With a thick aluminum and stainless steel base and tall, curved sides, it heats up fast, helping bring water to a boil faster. The accompanying steaming insert is especially designed to minimize the amount of water needed, leaving more room for food. Made from heavy-gauge stainless steel, this steamer won’t bend under pressure and neither will its sturdy loop handles. Its brilliant, mirror polished finish will also help it stand out in any kitchen. At 5 quarts, it accommodates plenty of steamed veggies, clams, and more.

A versatile pot at 5 quart capacity. Solid All-Clad construction, and excellent All-Clad performance. One of my go-to workhorses, especially when cooking for one or two. A perfect steamer. Great for soups, stews, curries, and one pot meals. Excellent for just about any noodle, e.g., rice, mung, sweet potato, buckwheat or wheat. With the aluminum ply base and curved body, water boils quickly. It has a nice response too.Excellent for steaming eggs instead of hard-boiling them. This pot steams 15 large eggs easily, with all eggs on their side in the basket. If stacked, then a couple dozen or more. Steams 15 eggs in 12 minutes for a soft non-runny yolk, 15 to 17 minutes for firmer yolk (your mileage and personal preference may vary). Bring water to a boil, place the basket with eggs in the pot, cover, steam for desired consistency, flash chill in cool water if desired or let them stand and cool slowly.Stainless steel construction, it cleans easily and buffs to a mirror finish with a soft cloth. A very light coat of cooking spray or oil wiped down with a cotton, microfiber or paper towel prevents spotting after washing and drying, and helps preserve the finish and rust resistance.Well worth the expense.

I’ve got a complete set of All-Clad in the 5 layer with copper band & I love them....but I missed my 4 quart Farberware pot. It was a good size for steaming small quantities of veggies & soup, and I liked the shape and the two handles as opposed to one long one.I also wanted to replace a tall 8 quart soup pot that had a peeling non stick coating. This 5 quart steamer unit is the perfect replacement for both pans. It’s not as heavy as my 5 layer set which makes it a little easier to use, it is a perfect size for making small soup recipes, heats water really fast(!), has its own steamer insert and fits in my cabinet without taking up too much space. For those who worry about “pitting†issues...When I first received my 5 layer All-Cald set , it included the instruction to never add salt to the pan until the liquid contents reach boiling. This makes sense, in the non boiling liquid you can see the salt crystals settle onto the bottom of the pot and slowly bubble in place until the liquid begins to boil & melt the crystals. I’ve been religiously following those instructions with my All-Clad pans for a year....without a single pit or spot. And if I’m heating water for pasta....or any time there’s nothing in the pan for the salt to settle on, I stir the contents until I’m sure there aren’t any salt crystals to settle onto the bottom. In the past, most of my Farberware pans had become pitted and I’m sorry I didn’t know about the salt thing sooner. One last comment: buy the liquid formula of Barkeeper’s Friend here on Amazon. It really keeps the All-Clad sparkling. Just remember to rinse it carefully, it can leave a light haze or film if not rinsed well.

This is a very good addition to our kitchen. It is tough to find a sturdy, well-made item that can steam this volume of stuff. My only issue is that it is made in China. I do all I can to avoid Chinese products because China is evil and undermining everything. Can someone tell me why a great American company like All-Clad has certain items from their product line produced in China? They make a good product right here in the US, but some of their items are outsourced. I hate that!! Makes no sense!! Does not compute!! I was cornered on this purchase because I couldn't find a product with the specs I wanted that was not made in the PRC. So I had to settle and at least purchase from an American company. Anyway...this is a good culinary tool. It looks good, it is nicely constructed and it performs well as far as I can tell. You can steam a good sized pile of stuff in this.

I bought "used-like new", and saved $20. I thought after a few months, no matter whether I take good care of my cookware or not, i would end up with a mark or scratch...so I could save $20. I received my $79 steamer today, and for the life of me, could not find a single blemish. Im extremely happy with my steamer, and in fact, am tickled pink, its the goldilocks of all steamers...not too big, not to small, its JUST RIGHT!!! Perfect!! Not only is it the perfect steamer...but its also a 5 qt versatile all around pot with lid..!!! My lucky day!!Update 9/16/21:This steamer is on my stove 24/7. We use it almost every single day. It steams vegetables to perfection, in under 15 minutes. We have used it for potstickers, and many other things...One of my best purchases EVER!! Easy to clean too!!

This steamer is the 9th All-Clad pot in our household and I would say its on par with what I've come to expect of All-Clad. Excellent quality, looks great and performs well. This is also the first All-Clad item that I've bought that is made in China. The try-ply base is still fabricated in the United States, but its then shipped to China for the sides/handles/lid and final assembly. We primarily bought this steamer to make homemade baby food, and it does an excellent job of steaming all foods. I think we have steamed every fruit and vegetable to-date without issue. We also use the base solo to make pasta sauce, chilli and stews. My wife found our 10qt pot was just too heavy to lift once filled so this pot is a good size for her. Admittedly, it is much easier to lift and pour for myself as well.It washes and rinses clean very well like my other All-Clad pots. I always dry my utensils and pots immediately so I've never had an issue with water spotting or staining. You will see water spots if you let them air dry and especially more so if you have harder water (been there).Pros:- Excellent quality, performance, and durability- Looks great- Perfect size and weight balance when full for my wife to liftCons:- Would be happier if its was made entirely in the United States. I guess time will tell how it compares.

Not the highest quality All-Clad I own, but for the price I'm satisfied. We use it for steaming veggies and the pot is nice and big, but not too big for a big pot of soup or stew. Perfect. We threw out the steamer basket we had and use this thing. That's the main reason I bought it was for the steamer. We're vegetarians and eat tons of veggies. So this helps so much. Clean up over a steamer basket is easy.

I'm very happy with this product. It looks just like what you see only the outside is just as shiny as the middle where they join together. I love this pot! Fast delivery! Well worth the money. Great Quality. The handle do get hot, use a pot holder. The steamer (strainer) is super good quality as well. Nice being able to take it out and put it in the sink to strain off food from other pots, or use in another larger pot. The lid fits my 10" Demeyer frying pan perfectly, so this saves me money. The inside diameter of the pot is 10" opening.

Versatile pan, easily holds asparagus spears, or a full bag of spinach. No more squishing veggies to fit.The base is 5in deep, the basket is 4in deep.
