The Alvin 130C clear acrylic triangles are designed for durability. The 4 inch triangle that I received measured .117" thick. An old Plasticoid school-grade triangle I have is 0.086" thick. That is a 36% increase in thickness. The 130C triangle has a plain edge which is less prone to break than the tongue of an inking edge. I also have an Alvin SK450 triangle. The edge has a center tongue that prevents smudging while guiding a technical pen. It does reduce smudging and I would recommend it if you are using a technical pen. They have a smoke gray tint to the plastic to distinguish from plain edge triangles. It is 0.092" thick, and the center tongue is 0.050". The length given is the longest leg of the triangle. To find the shorter leg, divide by the square root of 3, which is 1.732. The hypotenuse will be twice the length of the short leg. The availablity of 4 and 6 inch sizes, and the durability, make this a good choice for situations that require portability. I wish I had had this in college. The 4" size would have been handy for math and physics problems and notes, and far less likely to break clanking around in my pack. I can remember pulling pieces of triangle out of my backpack. It would have been perfect for laying out model rocket fins in high school.

Very accurate. Smoked color makes them easy to find on a crowded desk or drafting table. The hole makes them easy to pick up and place. Edges have elevated strips that prevent ink from smearing via capillary action. Good product!

I have had other 30/60 degree 18" Alvin plastic triangles over many years, but was disappointed to learn that this one did not have a beveled center circle for ease of picking it up while on the drawing board. Such an easy thing for the manufacturer to do and would make using it when drafting so much easier. Not sure why they stopped making them with the beveled circle? Other than that, it is an excellent drafting tool!

This triangle is a professional mechanical drafting triangle of top quality. No bevels on the straight edges. Beveled interior circle for easy pick up.
