I clean the area first with a little disinfectant... Someone thought these through and tested them and they function well. Installation is straightforward; be careful not to lose the seal and remove existing nuts and washers with a wrench evenly without putting body weight on the toilet. Don't be in a hurry because this is a quick couple minutes job with a small adjustable wrench, or a 1/4", sometimes 5/16" on others. Then, install plastic nuts with wings by hand; no washer is required. The covers will fit securely over the wings on the new plastic nuts. Instructions would be a good idea for some, but not included. As fast as build quality they are solid and are used on new their some of their new toilets. In terms of value, they are worth it to me, and I would buy them again.

The caps work as intended. However, please learn my experience. These caps were meant to be used to not remove the toilet because the bolts were too tall. But in the process of installing these, I had to remove the nuts so that the little plastic butterfly or star looking thing could take its place. Well, if your floor isn't level be aware that upon removal of the nuts, especially if they are tight, can cause the toilet to shift effectively breaking the wax ring. I ended having to remove the toilet and put another wax ring. What happened isn't the product's fault. Just learned from my experience.

Have you ever cracked a toilet, because you tightened the bolts down too much? Have you ever cracked the plastic toilet flange below the toilet, because you tightened the bolts down too much? Have you ever had a toilet leak, because you did not tighten the bolts down enough, because you were afraid you were going to break something? If you have to change a toilet, or reseal your existing toilet, you need to pick up a set of these. They are designed perfectly to finger-tighten down a toilet. You can get a good grip on them with your fingers to get them good and tight--and never have to worry again about getting them too tight and breaking something. They are great.

Worked. Had to glue it down because threaded part didn’t fit my studs. It has 2 different sized threads but neither worked. It’ll be fine. Most of the time I put a little caulk in the cap and put it on so that worked this time too. I didn’t bother to find out the actual size of the threaded holes.

I have now used this item on both of the toilets in my house. I am over the top pleased with the simplicity, the fact that this items work, and when done and installed everything is clean, neat, and more important, "secure".By the way, have a rocking toilet? Use toilet shims, along with these bolt covers, you will be happy.Great product. I've struggled years with crummy toilet bolt covers, these are simply, and I do mean simply wonderful.

My toilet was for some reason screwed to the floor with a very high bolt that didn't fit the usual smaller bolt caps. These bolt covers were a perfect size and look great. I didn't want to take off the original bolt nut but the white screw that came to hold the caps didn't go all the way down over the original nut. So, I put a white washer around the nut and that worked fine and looks fine. Surprised these caps were so reasonable. Very nice product

I'm not usually this dense, but I could not figure out which way to put the plastic contraption with the hole into the cap, or do I just screw it on (not knowing which way is up), and slam the cover over it, or try to? Perhaps it just doesn't fit this American Standard toilet? It would have helped to have directions for the covers? It seems so easy, but putting the screw device into the cap was next to impossible without trying to slam it on. Do you put the device into the cap and then screw the entire part onto the bolt, or just the plastic screw first and then try to punch the cover on? For such a simple appearing process, I'm at a loss. Not to mention frustrated. Perhaps the toilet metal bolt isn't the right size? It's a tall toilet, at least taller than the shortest ones. I already returned a tall cap with no inside.

Easy and quick to install, the caps fit firmly.

The plastic nuts let you comfortably snug down the toilet base without worrying about cracking it. Cap snaps down over. Plenty deep for longer bolts. Very nice.

I bought these caps to replace two shorter caps that did not seat due to the excessive length of the toilet bolts. The caps fit over top of the bolts just fine but the threaded retainer clips supplied with them did not match the thread pitch or size of the toilet bolts so could not be used. That said, I left the original clips in place and installed the cap over them. The cap does stay in place but very loosely, it can be easily knocked off. I would have preferred a cap that was a direct replacement for the shorter version so it would snap into place snugly, but this one will do.
