The AmScope PS25W microscope slide set includes 25 prepared slides of a variety of specimens including plants, insects, and animal tissues used in basic biology education. The samples are preserved in cedar wood oil and sealed with a coverslip to preserve specimens. Labeling on each slide identifies specimens. Slides are composed of optical glass for clear viewing and are 3 x 1 x 0.4 inches/75 x 25 x 1mm (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The set comes in a fitted wooden case to prevent breakage and ease handling.

Slide specimens include coprimus mushroom (cross section), dense connective tissue (section), dog cardiac muscle (longitudinal section), dog esophagus (cross section), dog skeletal muscle (longitudinal section and cross section), dog stomach (section), honeybee worker leg-composite (whole mount), house bee mouth parts (whole mount), human blood (smear), hydra (longitudinal section), Hydrilla verticillata leaf (whole mount), Lilium anther (cross section), Lilium ovary (cross section), nymphaea of apustio stem (cross section), onion epidermis (whole mount), pig motor nerve (section mount), pine leaf (cross section), pine stem (cross section), pumpkin stem (cross section), rabbit spinal cord (cross section), rabbit testis (section), sunflower stem (cross section), Tilia stem (cross section), young root of broad bean (cross section), Zea stem (cross section).

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.

This is a really nice set of slides & comes in a well made box. The box has a small latch that works well so that it doesn't accidently open. The hinges that hold the two sides of the box together are screwed in and not simply glued. The lid has foam on the inside to protect the slides. Included is a list of specimens on a small piece of paper that fits into the lid of the box. I've taken pictures of the box next to a ruler because when I got the slides, I expected that the box would be bigger. I'm glad that it isn't because it requires less storage space. These slides are suitable for teaching or for someone with a microscope at home. We purchased a microscope for my 8 year old granddaughter last year, but she didn't have many slides, so I purchased these for her. She is absolutely loving it. I definitely recommend this product.

My 10 year old got a microscope for Christmas and they only come with a couple preloaded slides. So we got her these. This is a great value. The whole family was excited to look at these slides. They are better quality then the ones it came with. The case is nice too. Good deal!

I ordered this for my grandson who is 8 yrs old. He enjoyed looking at the slides and was excitedabout his new discoveries. The slides are basic and enclosed in a nice little box. I ordered slides and kitwhere he could make his own and he really got a kick out of that because he put blood, ant, spider and anythingthat he could find and put on the slide. He even put a strain of his hair on a slide and wow he yelled out for meto come and look. Overall it is a great learning experience for him to examine from leaves to spiders and anything inbetween it provides a great overall view of things.

these are great, but the case has a cheap little closure on it. it does not stay closed all the time, it pops open. if a child was to carry it, it could pop open an spill. besides this, the slides are great, and the case it self is nice. the label is also very helpful. even with the crazy closure, i would buy again.

So far I give 5 stars to this product. My 7 year old has a current interest in all things science and we recently got him a microscope, not realizing that it did not come with any already made slides. I found this and just received it a couple days later. It is more than I expected but I am overall pretty satisfied with it. We have yet to really use them but I am hoping my son likes them as well.

This is a good collection of basic slides, but unless you have a special slide viewer accessory, they will only work with a traditional microscope, not a computer based one like I have. We made it work by raising the slides up a little with chopsticks and reflecting light up from underneath, but a regular scope would have worked better.

I think that these slides are great. They are perfectly prepared and well labeled. The wooden box keeps keeps them well organized as well. They contained some insects parts, plant parts, animal parts and even human blood. These slides are a perfect starters for a Microscope enthusiast. The only down side I can think of is that I should have purchase a bigger set. The kids would have loved to see more human samples.

A wonderful boxed collection of slides ranging from plant proteins to animal proteins, this set enabled my class to get a better view of the the smaller world that exist.

I bought this for my 8 year old son along with a powerful microscope. The only thing I regret is that it doesn't have more slides! The items are neatly labelled and well placed for viewing under a microscope. The box is sturdy and good looking.Delivery was on time and as expected
