I needed to get this to safely change the battery in my laptop. The size was just right for the 14" computer. The compartments are just right for keeping screws and other small parts organized. The cord that goes into the receptacle is a bit short, so I used an extension cord to plug it in. It came rolled up but flattened out without problems.I only used the mat once, and then put it into storage until I need it again. I purchased this one based on the other positive reviews I read. No issues and the computer works fine, so I guess the protection was sufficient.

Handy little project mat for a recent laptop upgrade. For some reason I thought this mat would be rigid, probably I didn't read the description, but it's actually a silicon mat that comes rolled up in a box. As it turns out, I really liked it. The silicon surface is non-slip with really useful numbered organizers for putting small screws and stuff. The workable surface area is about the size of a 15" laptop, I have an XPS, but I'd say it's similar to a MacBook Pro as well. It also came with an ESD strap for the wrist and another to clip to the mat. The compact size worked fine for me on my desk without taking up too much space.

The item was delivered intact and worked as promised. Whoever translated the directions into English needs to work on their skills though. Normally I can get the gist of a translation but this one made no sense. Event the writing on the box was weird. The item is great though.

complete set for ESD protection — very soft, but sturdy surface —- I like it

Mat is made of quality material. The organizing aspect of it is great with the numbering. Keeping your projects nice and neat. Easy to organize your hardware so you ensure every bit goes back where it needs to be. Heat resistance is great and holds up to solder jobs on components.

This is a great ESD mat, within the static dissipative range. It is large enough to fit an ATX motherboard if needed, has great heat resistance, and a fair amount of compartments for screws.Great purchase, especially for the price. The band and common ground plug were much appreciated as well. My only complaint is that the mat ships rolled. Luckily, you can easily get it to roll flat by rolling it tightly in the opposite direction prior to use, it settles even further after 24 hrs. Would purchase again.

If you've bought generic "essentials" from no-name third party Chinese retailers off Amazon before, you won't be in for much of a surprise. The quality is acceptable and the written instructions border on unintelligible, but you'll figure it out.Truthfully, you only really need the wrist strap and a ground connection to prevent ESD: all the mat does is provide a no-slip surface. This in itself can be useful, granted, but advertising everything else as a "gift" is simply disingenuous. The mat has practically no conductivity, so selling it as an "ESD Safe" product on its own is like selling a car without the battery and calling it "road safe." Thankfully they did package those "gifts" with the mat so if nothing else they can save their own skin.If you already have a no-slip surface, you'd be better off buying the strap and a way to connect it to ground. Ideally you'd get a real ESD mat with a proper grounding setup, but I'm reviewing this product from the point of view of a hobbyist. I have an AS in Electronics so I've worked with industry-quality mats and grounding setups: if that's what you're looking for here, then look elsewhere. The silicone stench that's mentioned in other reviews is indeed an issue, but not for long. I just put it in a bathtub full of soapy water for like ten minutes and the smell greatly diminished. Alternatively (at least according to the manual) you can let it sit out for a couple of days to dissipate the smell, but who says patience is a virtue?

Just got to try it two days ago to install a PC component and it works great.
