This is the second dial caliper I bought from Amazon. The first, a Fowler, which cost about 20 dollars more, I returned. I thought that the more expensive one would be better than the Anytime, but I was wrong. For comparison I'll mention the Fowler's drawbacks of which the Anytime has none. 1) The Fowler was very stiff and made my thumb sore. 2) The ruler was offset by about ten thousandths. In other words, when the dial was zero, the body did not line up with the ruler's tick mark. 3) The dial needed to be zeroed, being off by about 10 thousandths. To be fair after that the unit was accurate, provided you kept in mind the offset on the ruler. 4) The case was cheap. In contrast, the Anytime is smooth and easy on the thumb. The ruler is not offset. It came zeroed spot on. It too is very accurate as compared to my micrometer and digital calipers. (While I have a supply of batteries, I am tired of the digital calipers blinking and shutting itself off.) Lastly, the Anytime case is hinged plastic with the calipers resting in foam. With Mitutoyo manufacturing their calipers in Brazil and Starrett manufacturing theirs in China, I see no compelling reason to pay a premium for those. The Anytime is a great value and gives excellent mechanical and measurement performance. I highly recommend it.

This is an excellent value. Not as easy to read is my digital caliper, but it never needs new batteries. I got a 4" because my 6" caliper did not fit some places. Accuracy seemed a little better than my 7 year old 6" iGauging absolute origin digital caliper. Every gauge block I measured outside size with this dial caliper was right on the mark all across the range (which probably means a bit better than +/-0.0005), very pleased with the accuracy. Accuracy will probably suffer if anything gets in the tiny gear rack. The iGauging is IP54 rated. I didn't test the depth or inside measurement. Seems very solidly made. Did not come with any calibration certificate, but I always check against gauge block set so for me no big loss. A little sharp on some edges, may take a stone and fix that. Only an inch scale, no metric scale like most digital calipers.

I purchased these for use at home. They arrived on time and well packaged. I really was not expecting much. These were a thing of beauty. Well constructed, fine pointer on the dial, and hardened stainless. Measuring surfaces are nicely lapped. I have not taken them to work and checked them against gage blocks. I have checked them against other things of known size and they are plenty accurate. Yes they were made in china. So are the brand name ones that I use at work from an American company. You can purchase either China made ones or American made ones from them. I am pretty sure the ones I got here came from the same plant as the American company China made ones. These look the same and were less than half the price. One would think if we are going to go to China that the American companies would pass on the savings? HMMM, guess not.

Works with consistent accuracy for my DIY needs. Accuracy of repeating reads always great!

These work perfectly for me. Great for the price.

For years I had a cheap plastic one (with a dial too) but it was, surprisingly, really accurate. Then it went into the 'room of death' . . my work area . . and hasn't been seen since. So, I turned to Amazon (of course) for a replacement. Bought one for less and it was 'not so good'.--returned it. I decided to up my spending limit and I found this. Why not try again. It's fantastic! I used it for model railroading and I need to find the diameter of very small rods (like which rod is 0.020in. and which is 0.025. THIS does that! So, this satisfied customer has to get back to building small things.

I have had this calliper for a little over a year now and it is still going strong. I am an aircraft parts inspector and accuracy and repeatability are very important. I have had the cal lab verify it a couple of times with no problems. Easy to read indicator is a plus. I can only think of one drawback with these callipers and that is it does not have automatic shut off. I have left them on for the weekend a couple of times but fortunately it has a strong battery and I have only had to replace it twice so far. The battery cover is excellent, put the battery in and slide it shut, not like those that have a little screw that doesn't clamp the battery in tight and works itself out usually breaking and then no more calliper . When it comes time for another one you bet it will be this one and hopefully they will have an auto shutoff by then

Been a CNC machinist for almost 10 years now. I've always paid for medium to higher quality brands when it comes to precision measuring tools. But truthfully I am sick to death of being a machinist and have been going to school for a new career. So when my everyday use, Fowler digital calipers broke, I absolutely did not want to spend another $100 on tooling for my job. Especially when I won't be a machinist for very much longer. I found these and for the price I decided to give them a try. I got the 6" pair and so far they have been great. They measure even more accurately then my digital Fowler pair did. And no more stupid batteries. :) I've had them for a couple months now and they still work great. I use them as my everyday pair and I'm happy with them. Wish I would have bought the 8" or 12" set.
