Simple machine that is nice to add to my workout equipment. This stepper is nearly ready to go out of the box. You need to the adjustment knob on the understand to your desired step height (intensity level), and add the resistance bands. It took me a little bit to understand how to adjust the length of the bands; I had to "play with them a little" to figure them out so it's hard to explain exactly how to do that part. I didn't understand the book directions, but the bands do adjust for your desired length. A battery is already in the readout panel, and the panel starts it's functions when you start stepping with the machine. You get, time, calories, step count, and reps/min display. It seems so simple, but my legs do get a burn even after 5 min. of exercise, and they'll feel a little stressed right after I get off. You can use shoes or just socks, and it is still comfortable. I prefer socks because I get a feel of the movements better. Stairways always give me a workout, so I think this machine is a good addition to other workout activities I do. It's not fun, of course, but it's effective, and my heart rate did elevate to workout rate when I did this stepper. I think it targets areas other equipment cannot, especially glutes.

I gave the Apexup Stepper four stars for the simple reason that it took me a while to set up. Seems easy and there’s nothing to put together really, but when I stepped on the Stepper, I just sunk. It didn’t work. I turned the adjustment knob but nothing happened; the hydraulics still were not working. Nothing in the instructions dealt with this issue. I went online – no additional instructions. I tried to contact the Seller but there was no link. After about a half hour, I finally linked somehow to and FAQ page. It was suggested to lubricate the adjustment knob which I did and now it works fine. Honestly, I was just aggravated with the Stepper. However, having said that, the Stepper is pretty good. I wish it would go a little faster but maybe the rate it moves is the best. I don’t know. Again, no additional information. The Stepper is very solid and it seems to be well-built. You aren’t going to get in shape just using this Stepper but it is a great addition to anyone who doesn’t have the ability to join a gym or who doesn’t have equipment at home. If you keep this in mind, it is a pretty decent addition to your routine.Bottom line, I would recommend the Apexup Stepper if you don’t have access to regular gym equipment.

This stepper is exactly what I was hoping it'd be! It's smaller than my bulky, previous, old one, as well as has a working screen display! It's compact, so it's easy to store out of the way, yet also is easy to pull out and use quickly. I love that it came with the floor mat to protect the floor! It is basically ready to use right away. The only thing is the way that the pedals are folded down in the most compact way for transit, it won't really step up and down.. You have to turn the knob underneath to adjust the stepper height first, and then it's a hugely noticeable difference and ready to step on!I love that it counts the time of the workout as well as the steps. The steps are counted in pairs, so a step with each foot is counted as 1.It's very handy also to have the exercise bands attach right to the stepper. I've never had one with the bands built right into the design like that, so that's a big plus!

While not a high end stepper, this is very convenient. Size and weight are good for storing under a desk or in a closet when you don't need it. It doesn't need to be plugged in, your steps give it power and the display is straightforward. There is a dial underneath to adjust "resistance" but you'll just set it for what's appropriate for your weight. Heavier individuals will need more resistance and lighter individuals will need less. The less resistance, the shallower the step and the more resistance, the deeper the step. So to replicate a natural stepping motion you might need to play with it a little. I find that the more I step, the looser it feels, I can go maybe 15-20 minutes before I need to tweak it again to my liking. Definitely gets me warmed up and I feel it in the quads, hams, and glutes depending how you posture. The resistance bands are a nice addition. I rarely use them because it crushes my endurance and gets me sweating very quickly but for a quick full body workout they are great.

It's almost ready-to-use. I just needed to rotate the footer pads as they were turned inside for packing. The step height is easy to adjust. First I was like "I can't turn this knob it's too tight!" but found out i needed to raise the step to loosen the cable, then tighten the knob. There was a lot of grease? on the pully (photo). Didn't bother me but just fyi.The step is heavy, meaning the hydraulic piston is heavy. I wish I could adjust it. With this machine I need to push the step down very hard. It feels like I'm mountain-climbing. But I prefer stepping like fast-walking.The bands are not so stretchy as I expected.Well overall I'm happy with this machine.
