I'm a mechanic at a used car lot, and we got a Sport-Trac from the car auction for peanuts because the engine ran poorly and the engine light was on. Sad to see, it looks like the previous owner was doing a tune up at home (judging by the spark plug gap gauge, and empty spark plug boxes still in the cupholder) and crossthreaded one spark plug to where it wouldn't even seal the cylinder anymore. Luckily he only got it about 3 threads in, and didn't strip them out, just smashed them out of shape. With this tool I repaired the hole in about 10 minutes total, and it runs like a champ again.

I recently bought a new Honda generator and was converting it to propane. In the process, I had to take out the spark plug to re-gap. While taking the plug out, I damaged the spark plug hole threads. Fearing I was going to have to use a tap and deal with shavings in my cylinder, or worse, replace the cylinder head, I was quite upset. Then, a buddy sent me a YouTube video of someone using this backtap. It had tons of good reviews, so I ordered one myself, and it worked just as advertised! Super easy to use and pulls out all the shavings with it! 10/10 saved my new generator!

It broke mid way through fixing a spark plug thread. Now two of the pieces are sitting in my cylinder. Do not buy...

Buena para limpiar una rosca poco trancada, pero si la rosca está muy dañada es mejor comprar un kit de reparación, que hace una rosca nueva.

I partially stripped the spark plug threads on one of the cylinders in my truck and thought it was going to be thousands of dollars to fix. I purchased this tool and received it in two days. I used the tools according to the directions and was able to clear the threads from the inside out. I put the new spark plug in and it threaded perfect. Great tool.

I was able to restore a stripped spark plug hole on a pressure washer. It restored the thread from the inside out as designed and was well worth the expense.

I recently changed the spark plug on my Snapper 21" walk behind mower and the new plug wouldn't go in but about 1/4". Then the old one wouldn't either. I couldn't see anything on the threads and neither tooth brushes nor bottle brushes helped. Thought I was SOL until I found this back tap. Followed instructions with grease (I used white lithium grease I already had). On the first insert into the spark plug hole it didn't want to fit clear into the combustion chamber so I just put it as far as it would go and started turning it out adjusting the screw knob with each turn of the tool. After a couple times the tool went clear into the chamber. I probably repeated the process 5 or 6 times. When I tried the spark plug it went in again by hand. (I only ever put spark plugs in by hand. I never use a wrench until the plug bottoms out in this case on the smash washer.)

Did the job on my 1981 Yamaha midnight maxim, the spark plug couldn’t go in and this tool did the job. It took 4-5 times to get it right.
