I used this engine barring tool to get my 1998 12V Cummins to rotate to the correct positions to adjust valve lash. Upon reading other reviews I made sure to “lube†between the tool and the plastic sleeve before use. I just used WD-40 to get some lubrication between the two. As for the fit of the tool it slid in perfectly with a few light taps and had no play in any direction. The teeth seemed to fit/engage very well and got the job done. I was able to turn my engine over no issues and completed the entire valve lash job in a half hour (being rather meticulous, I just installed a new cam). Once complete, I checked over the tool for any imperfections, the only thing I noticed was a bit of the finish wore off the tool where the teeth engaged. No problem at all, I could see this too lasting for many, many uses. If you are in the fence about which barring tool to purchase I would definitely recommend this one. Cheaper ones run the risk of not lasting and more expensive ones have your popular name brand markup. Ares has a very good customer service team and will even reach out to thank you for you purchase and see how their tools worked for you. Overall great experience. I’ll add a picture of the tool after future uses if I remember

So I got this tool to help remove my harmonic balancer that was destroyed. I put a light coat of grease on the plastic sleeve and it looks just as good after the job was done as it did when I opened the box. Great little tool to have and just make sure you remember to double check it is removed before starting your truck. I used this for my '99 Ram 2500 with the Cummins.

Very disappointed, way too much play and just slipped on the flex plate. Useless.

I choose the ARES tool and it has held up to multiple complete rotation of my engine while still in the truck! It was priced in the median price range. It was well worth a few extra dollars and did the job the more expensive tool would have done as well. Used on 2017 Ram high output Cummins.

This tool has worked really well for me. I greased the wear sleeve and even after a few different uses it's isn't chewed up and is in good shape. Fits perfectly.

Works on john deere engines such as the 13.5 and 9.0

The teeth do not fully engage with flywheel, watched just the edges. it will turn the engine over but the fit is real sloppy compared to the OEM cummins tool.
