Worked like a charm! felt good on the hands and sturdy quality, the red grip handle cover can slip off however just be aware of how you are using the tool and it will work perfect every time! highly recommended for Valve jobs for any Import Cars, was used on a Honda R18 Engine.

This tool worked quite well. I was a little surprised it worked as well as it did because of some of the more questionable reviews. I used it on double spring valves for a Jaguar V12 engine. I was very pleased with the results. I did note that you have to adjust the tool properly for good results. But once I did, I was very please with the tool.

I used this product on my ls7 heads with dual valve springs worked well but needed a lot more leverage. Then again I had dual valve springs. The cup that sits on the valve I would’ve liked to see less of a sharp edge on it so it does not stamp a circle into the valves I used a towel to prevent that.Other than that it held up very well the frame is not bent one bit, mechanism works fine I plan on using it to install my new valve springs.

My engine (Honda V6, J32A3) was misfiring only in cylinder-6. After all parts replacement & diagnosis, I decided to pull the heads. This tool looked very similar to the drawing in Acura's dealer service manual, and although Honda's SST attachment was discontinued, the small side piece fit perfectly on the valve spring retainer. I also bought another valve spring compressor kit, which was absolutely unnecessary and the return window was way too short so it's sitting in my tool cabinet. This is made in Taiwan so the quality is assured. This was a great purchase for head/valve jobs.

I am restoring a 1969 GTO with the Pontiac 400 engine. Someone has put some aftermarket parts in this engine. After running around trying to find a good spring compressor at local auto stores, I decided to purchase this one. My dad and I immediately went to work with it once it arrived, but was unable to get it to work with my springs. I have the double springs and this tool was way too hard to use on it. First, the little metal cup that sits on the valve ended up locking up, so it would just spin itself off the valve. We also found it difficult to keep the adapter on the valve spring cap. Then the handle ended up bending and popping open when we did try to put pressure on the springs. Here are some additional pros/cons to this tool:Pros:- Price: This was pretty cheap compared to other tools that I found that were similar- Lightweigh: This tool is pretty light weight considering the size.Cons:- Hard to use: This tool, though simple, is very hard to use by yourself. It takes one person to hold it in place (or attempt to), and then another to use it. Even then, the tool would slip off or the handle would pop up when putting enough pressure to even attempt to compress my springs- Sturdiness: This tool is pretty light weight when it comes to sturdiness. It is cheap and feels cheap. Like I stated above, we ended up bending the handle when putting a lot of pressure on it.- Heavy duty use: This is not a tool for heavy duty use. You'll end up breaking the tool or not getting the results you want.I see this tool as one to use for light duty springs. The concept for the tool is good and I know it works because it is one that has been around for a while now, but this one did not work for my application. I ended up borrowing a pretty old tool from a friend at work, which immediately got the springs compressed with me doing it myself. I ended up purchasing one of the vintage tools myself.Would I recommend this tool? That's a tough call. I'll say this, if you have double springs, then look elsewhere. Go to eBay and look for a vintage tool or get one of those spring compressors that latch on to your springs. Those work much better than this tool. If you are someone that has normal springs and a helper, then it might be an alright option. If I could, I'd just get a refund and apply it to the vintage spring compressor with a design like this.

Used this to replace valve stem seals on a volvo 5 cylinder. The stubby handle really makes it difficult to get the retainer to come loose. I quickly realized that tapping the back of the tool with a hammer while putting tension on the retainer will pop it loose very easily, making the job go very quickly. The tool feels very solid, and even after some taps with a hammer, seems to be holding up great. I would recommend it.

A little awkward to use. I'm sure there are better spring compressors but it did its job and it was decently priced.
