This is a rather unique tool that does it's job. It is safer than using a knife and faster too. It appears to cut deeper than necessary if you're not careful, but with a little practice you can get it right.

This was the only chestnut scorer I saw with a silicone bed, the only one that was different from tons that looked the same, so I gave it a shot even though there were no reviews. I also bought one of the more common types to compare. This one worked so well! And I definitely prefer it to the ones without the silicone. The silicone both hold the nut in place, and makes it so you can score smaller chestnuts too, which was the main complaint against the other type. It made scoring and roasting my chestnuts a breeze, so much easier than using a knife! I also appreciate that it's spring loaded, and has a closure, which the other type didn't. Definitely recommend!

I love chestnut but I hate peeling off the skin of chestnut. Finally my friend recommended this tool to me. It works awesome! Although it still takes us a long time to peel off the chestnut skin, it is much shorter than before and I do not need to worry about the knife would cut my finger! Lol

I bought this set to crack chestnet, did not use the cracker, but I found that the two forks are perfect for eating crabs.

I use this every time I buy chestnuts and make them easy to peel; I use them so much that I break the head part. I will need to buy a replacement :)

This thing works, but with hazelnuts sometimes when the nut pops the whole nutcracker will snap together and pinch your finger. It hurts. I regrets purchasing this over a more simple nut cracker. I will wrap the handles in duck tape, I feel that'll help a ton. As it comes, it's hollow metal and it's just asking to eat your fingertips.

Purchased this for someone with arthritis on her hands. Made it very easy to cut the chestnuts. Has little forks and accessories in the box.

It is stamped steel pieces welded up. Not cast iron. It feels flimsy and with sharp edges. I used it cracked a few chestnuts. It worked. But the hinge got twisted already due to the fact it is made of thin metal sheet. I am not expecting it to last long time.
