This is, in part, shame on me for not doing a bit more research first. While it will still work for the cosplay as intended, I am nonetheless a teeny bit disappointed that the mallet does not, in fact, squeak. It has a blow whistle built into the framework, which allows air to pass through when you hit something.Sound can be quite jarring, as well, so I would recommend pressing gently first before smacking it against anything!

Yeah this thing is very cheap. It stopped squeeking after about a day of use and broke completely "shattered" on the second day of use. You get what you pay for I guess but I didn' expect it to be this bad.

Got this for my kiddo for Halloween and it's still holding up well for a first graders use lol Note: it does squeak when you hit something with it so it can be annoying.
