Astromania Bahtinov Mask Focusing Mask for Telescopes
The Bahtinov mask has become the preferred method of focusing a telescope, either visually or when imaging with a CCD camera, DSLR or webcam. They are an inexpensive tool which will allow you to achieve pin-sharp levels of focus, saving you time and improving your work.

Simply place the mask over the front of your ‘scope, align the scope towards a star. The mask displays a unique diffraction profile, one part of the diffraction pattern moves in response to changes in focus and displays error as a displacement from a clearly defined point.
Make sure the mask is centered on the front of the scope
Adjust the pegs so that each is at roughly the same position in its slot. To ensure a tight grip, loosen one thumbscrew slightly, then push the grip peg inward while pulling the mask gently toward the loosened grip peg. This will make sure that the other two grip pegs are contacting the telescope when you retighten the third thumbscrew. Now the mask should be well secured in position over the front of the telescope. You’re ready to focus!
Precision Laser Cut Plexiglass
They are made from precision laser cut enforced plexiglass, which is stiff and long lasting. They will never be brittle in the cold, unlike some other masks which are made from normal plastics.

The masks grip the telescope tube gently but firmly with three metal posts which have non-scratching silicon sleeves to protect you valued telescope surface.

This Bahtinov mask is beautifully made. It fits my Nikon 300 and 500 lenses. The diffraction spikes are visible and focus accuracy is easy to verify.

These masks are almost a commodity, made from similar materials and using the same standoffs borrowed from the electronics industry. With care it could last a lifetime. The downside of this design is durability. But for durability you pay more to get a mask made from aluminum.In short, it will work, it might last a long time or it might crack or warp eventually. You pays your money and you takes your choice (or chance).

This Bahtinov mask has plenty of adjustment to fit your 70 to 90 mm refractor. It is about 1/16th of an inch(1.5 mm) thick and definitely not flimsy. it has been rainy and cloudy since I got it. ( naturally)

Great mask to ensure proper detail on my stars while imaging. Takes the guesswork out of focusing while doing visual astronomy too!

I was surprised and disappointed that the screws don’t fit in the slots. I’ve seen that this problem was reported over 3 years ago. They should include an emory board to use enlarging the slots. Then I tried fitting the focusing mask to my 102mm diameter telescope. I ordered the mask for 85mm-120mm. The only way this would fit a larger telescope is to put the pegs on the inside of the tube. I haven’t had a chance to use this on the stars, but I assume based on other reports that it will work well.

I have a Celestron C6 and Skywatcher Evostar 120mm ED, the mask works fine for both scopes. Solid build quality.

Took a long time to arrive, and when it did it had a crack in it... Did not want to spend another 3 weeks waiting for a new one so I patched it up with epoxy...

Excelente calidad del producto. Cortes limpios y perfectos, tamaño exacto. Ligero y buena presentación. Yo pienso que si lo cuido bien podrÃa durarme varios años. Pero está fabricado de policarbonato, no esperes una pieza de metal.
