How your astrophotography can be helped with a finder
You are looking for your object using your camera viewfinder. Is it there? Is it in the middle of the viewfinder?
For astrophotography, that alone is often a challenge. Why can’t it be made easier and have this obstacle to a perfect astrophoto removed? We now have a really elegant solution: with the hot shoe adapter. Simply mount your LED finder on your camera and you’ll find your object in an instant.
HOW TO MOUNT AN LED FINDER ON YOUR CAMERA WITH THE HOTSHOE:
You can mount an LED finder on your camera using the hotshoe. You’ll have your object in your field of view in no time.

Which finders will fit on the adapter?
You'll have a stable connection: your camera, the hot shoe adapter and the LED finder. If your finder has a Picatinny or Weaver system then it will fit on the adapter. What kind of system is that? Simply explained: originating in the firearms sector, these standardised rails are 11mm and 20mm wide. For some time they have also been used for astronomical LED finders.

Have had fantastic results coupled with the Pinty hunting rifle green laser sight also sold on Amazon. Ya gotta know where your targets are but this setup takes all the guess work out of target acquisition, and I haven't spent any time trying to aim the laser which is easily adjustable. Shot the Triangulum Galaxy last night and, after studying star maps and basically star hoping down from Andromeda it was in my first test frame! Not exactly centered but anyone familiar with the process knows it can take a while to find what you're looking for up there without a finder scope.. It's true the plate hangs back far enough to interfere with the view finder, as you can see in the photo I slid the laser pointer as far forward as I dared which helps a bit. I Highly recommend

This is the issue, for some of you. A Picatinny or Weaver rail have notches in them to receive a "pin" or the bolt of the clamp in order to provide more stability. As you see in the photo. The upper dovetail gets in the way of that. I was a bit bummed at first since my clamp will only go half on. See photo. But there is enough to grab. Was going to give 3 stars but went with 4 because it does have a useful niche. SUGGESTION TO MANUFACTURE. Either add a notch in the upper dovetail OR remove about a quarter of the upper dovetail so, in my case, the clamp will completely grab. As you can see I get a grip but would prefer more. Also not including the screw becomes problematic, not easy to find and should be included.

This is the one to get for your camera hot shoe mount of a red dot. To screws to tighten it down so it doesn't move. Aligned the red dot to be right on with the lens, and it doesn't wiggle off target like the other one from Amazon I tried. One person in the questions section was worried about the aluminum shorting out the flash contacts on the camera -- this is indented with plenty of room so it doesn't come in contact with anything electrical.

This little item is great! I put on the hot shoe of my Canon, attached a red dot sight, and was able to zero in on celestial objects that usually took many minutes to find. This is so good I got four more for different applications - use creativeness this one has potential. Absolutely wonderful! This is the handiest gadget in my camera bag.Worth much more than the price. Little item, product may be a bit long for some sight rails.

Extends off the back which eliminates using the viewfinder while its attached, would be better if it was milled so it extended off the front instead. Also the screw tighter to secure it could damage the flash shoe mount on the camera. I may file it excess shoe mount off so I can turn it around.
