My previous one from Amazon took 16 sheets and lasted about 8 years. This one takes 14 sheets and seems to be ok. However it always wants to run in reverse before I'm completely done with shredding. It also clogs up.A little more than the previous one. However, I really liked the light that lights up when it's operating.

Love this shredder. I had this same brand for over 12 years. It is a work horse. It is not very loud. Does not jam up. Smooth operation. Heavier than the last one. We do alot of shredding.

This is a good shredder, until it isn't. Less than 6 months into light use, the shredder is nonfunctional. In contacting the manufacturer, they diagnosed that it is indeed a warranty issue; however, because the item was purchased from an unauthorized seller through Amazon they are failing to honor the warranty. The seller was NextGen Active and my first interaction with them was their representative telling me to lie to the manufacturer and tell them it was purchased from Amazon (not gonna happen). I responded to NextGen Active's initial contact and am awaiting their response...UPDATE: the company that mfg an sells this shredder denied the warranty (claims it was purchased from an unauthorized seller), claims there are no parts available to fix a known warranty issue (I was going to repair the shredder.) and refuses to offer a discount to purchase a new shredder. I am left with a $200 paperweight. All this adds up to terrible customer service! I will never buy another ATIVA shredder and advise you to do the same! Additionally, Amazon should not allow unauthorized sellers that will not honor the warranty.

My 15-year-old Ativa shredder started having issues and I knew I wanted to get the same brand as a replacement. I could not be more pleased with the purchase and I hope this machine will last 15 as well. I am a banker and paranoid about receipts with account numbers and credit card numbers on them. This particular shredder shreds incredibly fine and it's impossible to determine what the original receipt was. It is also perfect for old bank statements and financial documents. I would rank this a 10 if that was available on the Amazon scale !

This machine is very quiet, it makes very tiny shredds. The receptacle that catches the shredds slides out like a drawer. I love not lifting the heavy grinder cylinder off the top to empty it. It's a good bit larger and heavier than we're used to but the rollers compensate when it needs moving. We've only had it a week but it easily shredds multiple sheets with no issue.

Shreds like a dream. Super small shreds. Way better than a simple cross cut shredder. Definitely recommend if you're cautious like I am about sensitive mail and papers.
