Did my 1st strut rebuild on a 2016 Ford edge. Have to say this set worked great. I've never used the other style, thought this looked safer. The job went well and compressed the springs and made strut rebuild easy. I did watch a YouTube video 1st on use of the tool. I always use to buy quick struts but have not had much luck with durability and performance out of them. I bought the OEM motorcraft Ford struts and bearings on this one. After using this tool I will never buy quick struts again and plan on buying the better struts and parts and rebuilding them myself.

I used this for front struts on my Chevy Tahoe, which is the same as the Silverado trucks. My opinion is that even though the forks fit the spring and technically would fit even larger ones, this was the limit of what I'd want to attempt. This was my first experience with any type of sping compressor and I decided that I was not confortable with the common 2-piece compressor, especially for springs this large. The spring started to curve a bit as I was reaching the desired compression, so based on another reviewer's comments, I used one piece of the traditional style compressor (borrowed from O'Reilly's) as a helper. That worked great and I got the job done. This may not have been absolutely necessary, but when I saw the spring start to curve I was not comfortable continuiing to compress it without the extra control on the opposite side. I'm still quite happy with the purchase because I saved well over $1000 in labor by doing this job myself and I felt safe doing it.

Great product. I've used this for the first time on my 1998 Camry. The screws to secure the compression points install from the INSIDE.Placed it on my bench. I used an Hitachi electric impact gun. I believe the instructions call for a 21mm hex but in reality it's 22mm hex, not sure if there is a misprint in the instructions.Laying the strut/spring unit on the bunch, I used the gun to make the arm until it was approximately where I needed it. I then came from above with the compression points, they were aligned with the 3rd spring row from each end.The impact gun made it very easy to compress. Once compressed, you'll see the top spring part detaching from the strut mount, that's the stopping point. Make sure everything is secure.Pull the impact gun and unscrew the nut on the top. The strut will pull down away from the spring.Decompress the old spring and put it aside.

This is so much more effective than the old suicide screw types. I was able to get springs on and off my Ford Raptor with these in a much safer manner and less drama. That's a big spring too!

I can’t believe I waited all these years to get one of these. IT IS SAFE. The case is thin but functional enough. No, it’s not an Eastman but it works fantastically well. No more endless ratcheting or hooks or cringing or squeezing one side more than the other. It just works and works extremely well. In fact, I took the struts out of my wife’s truck to readjust the squeaky spring seats just cause I could and it took like two hours wheels up to wheels down. If you are still fooling with the janky pair of hooks buy this IMMEDIATELY.

It is heavy. So, possibly good quality of steel. I will not be testing it out until later this week. The plastic blow mold case is junk. Broken on arrival. Lost a star for this. Not going to go through the hassle and expense of returning for replacement, especially because the replacement will possibly be damaged too, and down time.Did I mention that it is heavy. Also good range of cup sizes from ATV to full size pickup or slightly larger. the medium one will probably get the most use in my shop. The yellow plastic cup liners can fall out, but a bit of glue will remedy that.More after a field test ...

Changed the stock front Can-am Outlander 570 L springs to the HD front springs kit. This tool made it so easy! Paid for itself first use. The tool is heavy duty, well built, good quality.

This thing is incredible! Worked perfectly to change out the struts on my 2008 BMW X3. Extremely satisfying to finally do a suspension job without endless frustration and feeling like I'm taking my life in my hands with cheap, poorly designed spring compressors. This tool is super heavy duty and pays for itself the first time you use it. I only regret not buying it sooner.

Muy buena herramienta, se siente de buena calidad, solo un detalle que llegó la caja abollada y rota pero de todo lo demás todo exelente 👌🏽

I ordered this after a coworker mentioned seeing a similar tool online somewhere as most of the portable spring compressors on the market are dicey at best. This tool is far from it, the case with all the tools in it weighs around 40lbs and the weight is in the tool. The forcing screw mechanism on this thing is very stout and after using it a few times I can say it doesn't slip and holds springs tight. Using this tool I've done strut mounts on several vehicles without issue and no fearing for my safety.I'd also agree that this brand looks basically identical to the Eastwood version of this tool just with a hefty discount compared to their version. So if you're looking to replace some struts on your vehicle and want a better spring compressor than the local auto parts store carries without seriously breaking the bank, pick one of these units up.

Bought this to do struts on a Acadia worked perfectly also removed rear coils from a Envoy and Lacrosse without taking extra suspension pieces apart. It might be a bit light for coils on truck front struts but has been perfect for Cars and crossovers. Definitely safer than most other economical spring compressors.
