Upgraded vm520eb with vm40ml styus. Way more detail, neutral sound and is smoothing out and becoming less brite as more hours are put on new stylus (about 10-15 so far). Starting to really like this vm40 ml stylus, way more detail. highly recomend but needs to be setup properly, not hard to do. Used overhand and alignment gauge, for tracking force used digital scale and gauge for tone arm vta. Tracks very good. Have Audio Technica At LP7 turntable. Owned for four years and no problems. Don't think this TT can be beat for the price or even a bit more.

This particular stylus has a truly clean and pure sound through my B&W 804 speakers with incredible detail and dynamics. The Boulez DGG recording of Le Sacre on 45 rpm record has incredibly powerful bass response, which I have not heard on any other recording of this piece of music. It is not cheap, but worth the money for outstanding quality of sound for voices and instruments. The VM60SLC is an outstanding cartridge for accurate tracking with this stylus. Enjoy this mm cartridge.

I'm running the 540ML on a Technics SL-1210GR through the phono pre of a Yamaha A-S1100 and out to Harbeth P3ESRs. Comparable carts I also own are the Nagaoka MP-200, Ortofon 2M Bronze, and an original KAB ProS40 with an advanced Ortofon Fritz Geiger stylus. I also have the VM95ML. The 540ML has the best balance to my ears out of all of them. It's more open and detailed sounding than the VM95ML likely due to the better engine with four coils vs two on the 95ML. The 540ML also has better channel separation at 28 dB vs 23 dB on the 95ML. Some say the 540ML can sound bright, but it does not on my system at all. That said if you are sensitive to brightness you might be happier with the 95ML or better yet the VM750SH or VMN50SH on VM540 body. Note the engines between the VM540ML and VM740ML are identical. The only difference is the body and weight, so you'll want to factor which is a better match for your tonearm. If your tonearm supports both, then it's up to which you prefer the looks of. The Ortofons above sound great but they are a little more sensitive to pops and clicks. The Nagaoka MP-200 is a wonderfully lush sounding cart, while the 540ML is more neutral. They are tied imo, so which you prefer is just a matter of taste. That said, the 540ML is my all around favorite. Next stop for me will be the MC AT-PTG33/2.

My cantilever broke I'm not sure how. Thos Stykus beats my old Ortofon Blue which is good on it's own and more "in-your-face" but i prefer the velvetly sound of this stylus and it gathers less dust as well.. I think is more detailed than the Elliptical.. both are great but I don't see myself going back to elliptical after microline, except to remember and compare again maybe, but overall this stylus is superb, detailed and not harsh at all, no sillibance. $200 for replacement a bit too much but it's what it is.

I previously had the 520 cartridge and was pleased with it but was looking for a little more. My decision was made easier by the fact that I only had to buy stylus as it goes on the same cartridge body. What a difference!! The clarity of the 540 is at a completely different level and competes with my Super OM40 I have on another table. I am hearing major differences on albums I have listen to for years. I even have found on a couple albums that had a skip that it tracked better and avoided the skip. Big winner for me here and at a reasonable price for a considerable increase in sound quality.

This cartridge is a good one and in my opinion the quality above this is a diminishing return on price/quality after that. There are certainly better but for ridiculous prices. It’s a good upgrade for a cheap cartridge/needle

I got this to replace the original stylus from an AT-120E cart. that was getting on in age. The 120 still sounded great but I knew it was getting up there in hours since I had it for a few years and it saw a fair amount of use. The VMN30EN installed easily and to my delight there was a noticeable improvement in the sound. Mostly in the midrange detail. I did not find this stylus overly bright which I was a little concerned about. I've been using it pretty heavily for about 2 months now and it still sounds great and performs well. I am using it with an older Technics SL-1200 mk2, a 1972 Sansui Au555a integrated amp and a pair of reconditioned early 70s Smaller Advents. I honestly didn't think I would hear a discernible difference with this stylus - and like I said - the old stylus sounded good, but I could hear difference. Sounds great and tracks as well as the original which was a really great tracker.

Wie in den einschlägigen Test und Foren beschrieben. Ein prima MM-TA zum relativ kleinen Preis. Da macht man nichts falsch. Kapazität beachten! Insgesamt sollten wirklich nicht mehr als um 150 pf sein.

I have the 750SH, it's not old but I kept hearing the 760 is superb. Originally I was of the opinion that the 750 gives 80% of the performance of the 760 but at half the price. That's true certainly but, that ladtv20%, oh wow is it worth the ££,Yes it is
