We only take from Vine what we need and useThis is a very solid piece. Well made and of industrial strength. And therein ironically lies the problem with it for domestic use. I used it with a pretty good but domestic battery drill which has good torque for most jobs, but needed a drill with even more torque and variation on speed than that as this auger shifts dirt fast and spreads it everywhere. So whilst it did the job, it left a lot of mess on the user and around the hole. If I had a higher powered and slower drill it would be great. I just needed something for planting bulbs and this is over the top for that. But if you need something strong, that will last and you have a top of the range electric drill, this might work for you.

I am a serious gardener, however, the days of digging holes are over for me! I saw this SOMADA auger drill bit and thought it would be perfect for my needs. It gets the job done. I do recommend that the soil be moist as attempting to use this on dry, compacted soil may not be so easy. I also recommend wearing protective eyewear as the auger may throw up some small rocks. If you're looking for an auger to perform small digging jobs, this one may be for you!

Auger Drill bit for Planting 4" X 16" Garden Auger Drill Bit for Planting and Gardening, Earth Auger Spiral for Digging Earth, Soil, and Post Hole with 3/8†Hex ShankGot this exact thing in 2 different sizes. That is how much I love these!! These are way too cool, why did I not think of this!! Have plenty of different battery powered drills, to use this with. I was attempting to plant a rose bush, got these out and got busy drilling holes in this hard soil/clay it wasn't long at all before I had a hole and the soil broke up!! A true game changer!

This thing is a life saver. Parts of my yard have extremely compacted clay soil. I’ll slam my shovel down at full force and it goes maybe a quarter inch into the ground. This auger bit chews right through the hard soil. I’ll drill some holes, then use my shovel to remove dirt, then drill more holes, etc… Saves me so much time and energy over digging manually. The only thing to watch out for is the drill will twist your hand if you hit a rock. I try to maintain a strong hold on the drill and not go too fast. The auger looks well made, and it fits into my Dewalt drill without issues.

Got this to help plant fall bulbs and it's a keeper! Makes it much easier to do than the old towel method. Paint comes off in the ground but it doesn't matter. Works well, helpful if you have a drill with a handle.

We finally got around to doing the autumn planting, and this auger was great to have. Our soil is pretty hard, with a lot of roots, and the auger made it a lot easier. I just used my corded electric drill and it went pretty well. Just be careful because the auger tends to grab roots and the drill will twist out of your hand easily.

This auger bit works absolutely great. We've used it on both hard, dry clay soil, and in wet garden soil that had a mix of clay and topsoil. In both, it got the job done far quicker and more efficiently than if we had to use shovels. No problems at all with it. I'd recommend it.
