I had been using a different brand of thread for quilting for the past year. As a new quilter, I thought that all thread is equal as long as its marketed as "cotton quilting thread." However, when I took my sewing machine in for a small repair, I commented about how much "fuzz" accumulates under and around my bobbin. The quilter who was servicing my machine commented on the "poor quality of thread" I was using and strongly encouraged me to change to Aurifil or another brand that I cannot remember. I did . . . and she was right! I can tell a quantitative different (much less fuzz!) when using Aurifil thread! I won't go back to the old brand of thread again!

This thread is the real deal! I could tell immediately this thread was a better quality just from the feel of it when I touched it. I normally use a 50wt cotton thread but I’ve always either purchased from a big box store or a cheaper cotton thread from an online store. The normal thread I buy usually fluffs up some and the cheaper online store brand I purchased caused a lot of lint build up in my sewing machine. I have heard good things about Aurifil so I thought I’d order some and give it a try. I sewed for about 6 hours and there was no fluff caught in my seams today. There was also let lint on the needle and press or foot at the end of the day. I didn’t look at my bobbin case, but I’m willing to bet there isn’t much lint to clean out right now. I am very please with this purchase and I think this thread is a high quality.As for the color, Dove is a very pale gray color. It has a matte finish and is very strong. I used it on pink, red, black, and white fabric. It worked fine for my quilt blocks. I don’t worry about an exact match when I’m piecing.

The thread is so lightweight I can barely feel it in my fingers, but it sews up strong, smooth, and beautiful.

I always find the quality of Aurifil threads to be very good. I just want to point out that the colour "Oyster" isn't quite what I was expecting; while the pic shows it as a cream, the thread has a slight pink tint to it. It will be fine for what I am using it for, but if you need a true cream then I suggest chose a different colour.
