These shorts aren't designed so much as they are engineered for fit; longevity; convenience; security and style! I like the fact they are water resistant which also means stain resistant. I like the deep pockets in the back and the front side pockets and the deep zippered side pockets which are almost undetectable in the darker colors. The angled pockets on each side are wide enough to hold cell phones and there might be where the irregularities begins. I've not tried all of the four pairs purchased but so far two of the four will accommodate my Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra, which is a big and wide phone and one pair will not hold it, due to the angled pocket, not sewn wide enough. Nothing is perfect in this world so that might not be a big deal (and it isn't to me) as the back pocket will completely envelope the phone as will the side pockets. I like the small plastic triangle attachment that the loop tab in front of the shorts has for the attachment of keys, carabiners, etc.. I noticed not all of my shorts have that extra plastic triangle shaped piece that one of the loop tabs holds. This is obviously to hold 'stuff' you don't want inside your pockets. I like that feature but I found that by attaching a carabiner within the sewn in loop where that plastic piece isn't, I can accomplish the same thing. (this is just an observation and not a shortcoming of the design or seamstress nor a complaint). I like, too, the reinforcement of places that are bound to encounter wear like atop the front side pockets and the drop down knee area and the bigger Velcro patches on the angled pockets which appear to be a stronger and better securing type of Velcro than you ordinarily see in cheaper clothing. The stitching is perfect! No ravels or hanging threads seen anywhere. Great melding of fabric pieces! Seams are perfect and double stitched everywhere! One thing the manufacturer didn't point out is that after repeated washing, I notice no fading whatsoever. Great purchase and price in my opinion.Oh, one more thing. Go with their recommended sizing. I always thought that X-large was 38++. In my case the 36" was considered to be their X-Large and it turned out to be a perfect fit with room to grow with the elastic band that's placed in the back--where it belongs!These shorts were obviously engineered to last and perform and that's the long and short of it.

I really like these shorts but they are not sized by waist size. They offer just "small", "medium" or "large" which might not work for your exact size.The pockets are deep which is good for my work requirements. My phone easily slides into the back pocket and is completely hidden. There are also zippered pockets which I like for keeping my work badge when not in use.For me they are slightly tighter than I want and there's no 'stretch' to them but overall they fit and I will keep them.

This is my second pair of these shorts. The first pair’s crotch started to split after my second use. I figured I’d give them another chance and bought these. After only a couple light uses the seam on one of the pockets is coming undone. Unfortunately I had them a long time before I wore them so now I can’t even return them.There’s also run SUPER tight. I’d suggest buying a size up.

I'm a land surveyor so I bought these for the pockets and durability. The pockets are great, but the durability is not. They fit fine except for the front zipper area which seemed tight from the start. Now before your mind roams into the realm of physical attributes possibly being a more curse than blessing on this occasion, I'm not packing a peanut, but I'm certainly no zipper-buster either. The first time I crouched down, the fly snapped open, hence an embarrassing afternoon at work and a2 star review. The stars are for those that don't care about the zipper.

This is the second pair of these shorts that I have purchased and the fit is a half a size too small. The shorts were the same size as the previous pair which were a perfect fit and the fit for the second pair was not the same. We had to move the button for a b better fit.
