My son's Focus developed an EVAP leak and I really needed a smoke machine to keep from just replacing valves and guessing at fittings. I picked up this one and gave it a test under fire with the problem. I picked up the baby oil for it and found it much easier to use than some of the professional smoke machines I have used in the past. This comes with a load of fittings to attach it to almost any opening you can find on the engine. I wanted to isolate the valve so I connected it to the input to check for leaks back through the system. Seems quick to produce smoke and it made the leak quickly evident (always in the worst place).I think my only gripe I would have about this smoke generator is that it doesn't have a case. I re-purposed a bag that a wood router came in because it neatly kept everything together and zipped up. Beyond that, it performed flawlessly and I'm positive I will be using it in the future for other troubleshooting on our seeming fleet of cars. It is something you should have around.

Ok, it's made in china and the instructions aren't amazing. It smells and you will stink of burnt mineral oil. But you know what, this thing is awesome! It's pretty easy to figure out with or without instructions and barely needs any oil. It comes with tons of plugs to cap off your stuff and the on board air compressor builds up a surprising amount of air pressure fast. My only wish is that there was an AC adaptor too. Unfortunately it doesn't come with any oil, but I ended up using unscented cutting board mineral oil and that worked just fine. If you have ever got frustrated trying to hunt down intake leaks, this well worth the money.

The smoke machine has been easy to use so far, and the built-in air pump eliminates the need for extra equipment, which is always a good thing. The dual-mode functionality works well for different diagnostic needs, and the pressure seems adequate for detecting leaks in various systems. I’ve tested it on a few vehicles, and it produced a steady stream of smoke that made identifying leaks much easier than the old fashion way. So far, it has been working as it should, but time will tell how durable it is with extended use. Overall, it seems like a good tool for diagnosing leaks in automotive systems.

This set comes with everything you need to perform a smoke test for leak detection. It's got all the adapters for testing everything in the evap system, intake system, vacuum, fuel tank, whatever. The quality is great too - this is a much nicer set than the last one I ordered.

I've utilized truly an assortment of these smoke analyzers throughout the long term, so I feel very able to prescribe this one to any DIYer or cost cognizant technician. It does all that some other smoke machine I've utilized does, to say the least. No air supply is essential, since it utilizes its own inward electric siphon. The siphon is somewhat clearly, yet not annoyingly. The stream meter works perfectly at managing the progression of smoke, and it's a vital element to have. I've had smoke machines without flexible stream valves, and they have a propensity for creating such an excess of tension that they pass lines over and cause new breaks. The included extras are all of superb quality such a long ways as may be obvious. The main extra thing you really want is some mineral oil which just costs a couple of bucks at any pharmacy. Simple to arrangement, particularly on the off chance that you have insight with smoke machines. Great smoke pressure makes finding clear.

I have 1977 Toyota Camry and this smoke machine worked great to find the leak. I used mineral oils.
