Some of us are on a budget. Got this scanner to double check codes getting on other scanners and the recommended fix. This scanner is compact and easy to use. Downloaded update from company's website and it read the same codes and made most of the same recommendations as my other scanners that cost more. Worked as intended and a good deal at this price. These scanners may not recommend every possible fix but they generally get you pointed in the right direction. Happy with this new scanner and can recommend especially for those on a budget. As with most OBD scanners, there is usually a download needed to get your new scanner going. For this model OM126P, go to the autophix.com website. Select this model by model number. The page that comes up for the model has the DOWNLOAD button at the top right of the page. Click Download and you will see 3 files, one is a .rar file, same thing as a zip file and extracts with windows. The other 2 files are user manuals. Save the user manuals to read later and save the .rar file to your computer. Once saved, extract the rar/zip file by right clicking on the file and select Extract All and to save the files in same location. You will then see a folder with the same name as the zip file. Click on the folder and you will see a file named Update. Take the supplied USB cable and plug into the scanner and into a USB port on your computuer. Once the scanner is connected click on file named Update. The program will take over and auto download the files to the scanner. It will only take minute or 2 and you will see when the Update has been completed. You can then simply unplug the USB cable from the computer and the scanner and it is ready to use. Hope these instructions are helpful.

This reader is a nice way to read and reset OBDII codes if you get a check engine light on your car. Understanding the codes can help you diagnose the cause of a CEL. This is a plug and play code reader and is relatively intuitive. It does not do any of the CANBUS edits but is good to keep around. I now have multiple readers so that I almost always have a reader/reset tool in all of my vehicles. It comes with a draw string bag for protection when stored.

I really like this reader for beginners and intermediate home mechanics. I have several different readers and I got this one to keep in my daughter's car. It's easy to read, easy to use, and even comes with a little bag to put in and throw in the glove box. Operation is simple and if you can find your OBDII port, you can figure out the rest. Compared to other readers I have, it fares quite well and has everything that most home mechanics will need. It's not really for professionals, but I would never expect it to be at this price. One feature I really like is the ability to look up codes even if they aren't showing up on your car. I was able to show my daughter how to use it so when she does get a check engine light, she can find the code herself and then I can show her how to do the actual repair.

Am going to say "good scanner". This scanner identified all the codes on a non turbo 2004 Subaru Forester that a $500 higher end shop scanner found. It was also fairly intuitive to use and was able to scan and clear DTC without reading the instructions, which is the primary use of it.Among the features is a means to read the output voltages of O2 sensors, which in effect not only IDs a sensor that isn't working, but can show what the problem is. Incorrect output voltage can be a connection problem or a defective sensor. The real problem I have with it is that it has a USB B mini port with a supplied cable and NO instructions what to do with it!! Plugging it into a power source (maybe to charge an internal battery for out of vehicle use produced a notification to "Please perform related operations on your computer". This is to presumably to update the device's software.Connecting to a computer gave the same notification along with the computer not responding to the connected device. None of the buttons helped move forward. GGRRRRRR!!!!A "Support" reference on p 5 of the manual provides a means "if you have any questions" contact AUTOPHIX at the email address on the back page. They will provide corresponding operation files and operation videos according to specific issues. Also listed is their web site where instructions are revealed for downloading a DIFFERENT manual that also provides user instructions for downloading upgrade software for reviewing and printing diagnostic reports. As I have reported for other products that require a connection to websites to download *additional* instructions and software from companies that have strict government oversight in their hip pocket, it's buyer beware. This seems like a very capable scanner hamstrung by convoluted and incomplete instructions out of the box.

My son just purchased a “new to him†Platinum Series truck. It is absolutely beautiful and so full of every little luxury. Recently his truck threw an unusual code that he hasn’t seen before I thought it would be a good idea to buy him a code reader. This little car reader has been great and made my son have peace of mind with his truck. He carries it in his glove back just in case the truck throws another code that he needs to understand. This little box so easy to attach. It quickly plugs into the area under your dash. You press to start it and if there is a code that needs to be explained, it will show up on the reader’s screen . The screen also includes a study pouch to carry it with and detailed directions.
