About this item

  • Easy-to-view digital display shows numeric trouble codes and eliminates the need to count flashes
  • Works on most Ford, Lincoln and Mercury domestic cars and trucks from 1982 to 1995
  • Compatible with MCU and the EEC-IV computer control systems
  • Memory feature stores codes even when the reader is unplugged
  • Includes instructions for OBD1 operation and all Ford self-tests

The INNOVA Ford Digital Code Reader is a diagnostic tool specially designed to work with the vehicle's test connector to communicate with MCU and EEC-IV computers. It uses electronics designed to retrieve engine and transmission diagnostic trouble codes from the vehicle's computer but does not generate codes. The code reader serves as a key that links to and opens communication with the vehicle's computer to prompt the computer to perform self tests and to receive test results or retrieve codes.

I recently purchased a 94 Bronco that has some issues after warm up. I used this to read the codes after the check engine light came on. The codes helped me diagnose my issue. Works as advertised. You can use it to read stored codes as well as the codes that are being accumulated while the truck is running. Very easy to use with very complete instructions as well as a complete listing of what all the codes indicate.

I like the Reader and I'm keeping it and despite the cost the extension cable is good to have so you can do the engine running tests from the inside of the cab. But it's really true about the tester pins, they aren't worth a ,,,,,,, well,,, they aren't secured very well to the Reader body. Right out of the box, plugging the cable in the first time, the reader wasn't connecting with the truck computer. Having read several reviews about the crappy pin construction, it's the first thing I checked and it was true. Just the action of pushing the extension cable on to the Reader's connection pins caused a couple of them to recess down into the Reader's body. So having read several reviews about the poor pin construction I followed their advise and crazy glued the base of each pin to the Reader body. Problem solved. All the tests completed AOK. However, it's another reason to buy the expensive extension cord, once you get the cord and reader connected and it makes good contact with your vehicle computer, just bypass the poor pin construction issue and just leave the cord connected to the Reader all the time, doing your vehicle connections via the ext. cable. The cord's pins are much better constructed. I like the Reader and am keeping it. This review would have been a 5 but the pin issue is a big negative. Make sure when you order your Reader and ext. cable, be sure to add on a tube of Crazy Glue. It'll all be good after that.

Made reading 3 number codes on my F150 easy. I have an older action code reader that you have to watch for LED blinks or listen to the buzzer and not having to write down the number of beeps makes diagnostics a bit easier.

First, let me give credit where credit is due. The product works, and it's easy to use! I was able to retrieve the codes. Some ports are inside the vehicle, my port was in the engine bay. I was able to do everything needed by myself to successfully complete the test. BUT I have 2 Negatives associated with this product. First, When I plugged the reader into the port in the engine bay nothing happened. when I unplugged it I found that 2 of the 4 Prongs had pushed into the reader. Pure Junk. So I opened it up to see what broke. To my surprize, the wires and connections were still intact. I pushed them back into placed and reglued the reader back together. I plugged it back into the port but the prongs pushed back into the reader again. The tiny little blades where the wires connect to the plastic, I guess are too small and don't hold the connectors in place. I used alligator clips on the ends of the prongs to pull the codes. Second, the booklet fell apart the moment I opened it up to read the directions and again when I was reading the code glossary. The book is poorly made as well. I see You can download the instructions from the web site but why? It comes with a booklet. (was the download an afterthought or did they know in advance) I see now that there is an extension cord you can purchase, this will certainly make it easier to use, then I see others are having the same issue with the prongs and using the cord. so it is definitely an issue with the design and the connections. If they address this issue and solve the problem, then this is a great product for the price. Seems they care a little about the product they have fixed a cheap book by putting making the directions a download. I will attempt to return the product but since I opened it up and then reglued it I doubt I get a refund!

There were good and bad parts using this scanner. I did all the tests described in the manual on Mercury Grand Marquis 1994. The good part is that it worked very well. I got all the codes easily and fixed the car. The manual was very thorough although quite verbose. You might want to summarize it by writing out the testing steps for yourself, because continuously reading the cautions like not sticking your fingers into a spinning fan gets tiresome. There is also a mistake in the instructions on page 41. A step is missing between steps 3 and 4.The bad part of sinking prongs was reported in many other reviews. It happened with my scanner as well. This problem can be easily fixed. There is a small cut-out latch at the base of each prong. If it is not pushed out far enough, it doesn't catch, and the prong will sink in when you try to plug in the scanner. Before you attempt to use scanner, use a small screwdriver to push all the latches out so they can catch the plastic casing. The bottom line is the scanner works very well, but if not for this stupid problem with sinking prongs, I would have given it five stars.

Tornou fácil a detecção de falhas nos componentes eletrônicos do sistema de injeção mono ponto de veícu-los da Volkswagen. Meu carro apresentava dois problemas crônicos e consegui, eu mesmo, repara-los.
