I purchased this for my 12 year old for Yule because they want to learn to play drums. I wanted to find something that matched their personality and I was surprised that such a pretty practice pad was available. It is well made, has a good weight and I believe it will hold up for a while. The bottom side has a nice bit of foam-like grip/padding. The feel when hitting the pad with sticks is closer to a real drum feel than a set of electronic drums would be, which is why I chose this approach. I plan to get my child the 6†and 8†in this print. The graphics are vibrant and printed well. If you or someone in your life wants a practice pad that has a bit of character, this will not disappoint. I selected a used like new option to save some money because finances are tight in our household right now. It was exactly as described and other than the packaging being a little worn and beaten up from storage and travel, I wouldn’t have thought it was used or returned. My 12 year old certainly couldn’t tell. I’m so happy that I went with this one. I believe that others will be too.

To set the stage (so to speak)- I own several pads of different brands and materials. I have experience in marching Band, orchestral, and drumset playing.The Zildjian Galaxy pad is very enjoyable to practice on. However, each features has both positive and negative attributes for different drummers. First, the pad has a great bounce which is very “forgiving†for beginners working on doubles and rolls. A beginner student may feel they are progressing better and more encouraged to “stick†with it, but in the long term, that bounce may prevent from really building strong muscles/chops. It is quiet, but not as quiet as the gum rubber pads. However, it really has a wide range of sounds which matches the force of the stick when struck making it great for working on dynamics.My main use for this pad is to “fine tune†dynamics and articulation for snare drum contest solos after practicing on other pads, but this pad would be great as a stand alone pad too.The galaxy print is very attractive and the pad is made very well. Thick enough to be solid and sturdy but thin enough to throw in a backpack.Hope this helps. Happy drumming!

I’m just beginning so I wouldn’t know if it is working like a good item. The galaxy design is beautiful. It does have a good “bounceâ€.

Good for drum line, a little loud, less bounce than the Evans version.
