I had 3 locks of varying sizes that required cutting. It did the job effortlessly. My son told me to purchase expensive named brands. The Avid worked well for my current and future needs and was a fraction of the cost of named brands . The inclusion of grinding discs is a good benefit.

Update: Customer service is very good and really wants to solve problems. I was sent a complete replacement and am very happy with the Avid grinder. Great tool for the money. Recommend!Original problem: I just opened the box and setup the original grinder yesterday. It was very frustrating trying to get the spindle lock to lock the wheel to tighten the blade. Used it for one cut today and went to check the tightness of the blade and this time the spindle lock button would not work at all. I cannot tighten or loosen the blade, The design is so that debris is blown into the space under the button. I cleaned that out with air and bumping and it was still impossible for even two people to change a blade.. I have contacted the company. I need to get the diamond blade I bought extra and put on it off of it. It is beyond the Amazon return window so I will let you know how Avid deals with it Bought in August so only two months since purchase. Wish me luck!

Zipped the top off of a thicker steel barrel no problem. The included cutting disks ground down fairly quickly but it's a common arbor and disk size. Finding a replacement disk at any hardware store should be no problem. Worked great for paint removal with a disk I bought.

I have been putting this grinder through its paces, removing several stubborn layers of paint/stain from an outdoor deck and sharpening tools. It seems to work reliably and to take hours of usage in stride.

Needed a replacement for my 35 year old Makita 4" grinder. Have used this grinder a fair bit and am very pleased with its performance. For the price it was better quality than expected. Update Have reduced rating to 1 star. Haven't used for a few weeks. Tried to use this morning and the grinder started to make weird noises and started to smoke really bad than stopped working completely. Not very pleased anymore. Update #2. Company was very quick with a response to my complaint and after a few emails they replaced the grinder with out any problems. New unit seems to be working great.

Very happy with the grinder. I needed a smaller grinder for getting into tight spaces doing rust repair and this one works. So far the trigger stays locked and the body is small enough that I can comfortably hold it in one hand. The motor feels powerful and smooth and the grinder has some weight to it, it doesnt feel like a cheap toy.
