I got this for kayaking and camping to hold the small tools I don't want to get wet all the time, like my multitool, flashlight, etc.First of all, it does keep items inside dry. I tested this in my sink, since I didn't want to try it in a real usage scenario only to find that it failed. So, I put a piece of dry paper towel inside, and then placed it in a sink full of water and let it float for an hour, while occasionally jostling it to simulate it being moved around in a boat, etc. I then weighed it down so that it sat fully submerged for an hour. I then removed it, dried it off thoroughly and opened it up and discovered that the paper towel was still completely dry.Pros:Fairly lightweightVery sturdy. I didn't drive my vehicle over it, but I did stand on it and it didn't seem to flex at allComes with a cushioned insert, which both protects the items inside and helps reduce the amount of sliding around of the items, as well.Transparent lid allows you to see what's insideCons:The handle which is, by necessity, very tight, is designed in a way that I find difficult to open with gloves on, especially when the box is wet. This may limit it's use in cold environments.Bottom line: I'm very satisfied with this box and plan to add it to my standard kit for various water related activities.

This is a nice Dry Case that is extremely similar to one that I purchased from Hlotmeky. I have several dry cases from other big name outdoor brands, and this seems nearly as sturdy and waterproof as those. It is durable, and impact resistant, and the basic latch is fairly easy to actuate but it does not open on its own.Pros:- It has a foam type padding in the base to protect your valuables.- Has a bar on the exterior of either side for attaching the included lanyard.- Robust thick plastic is durably impact resistant and watertight.- The case cover is a clear plastic so that it is easy to identify the contents without opening the box.- It easily fits into the 9-inch hatch that is located right in front of the seat of my older Tarpon-120.Cons:- There is no padding on the lid, so if the box gets knocked around, the contents could get banged-up.- The interior is not very thick, the base is only 0.75-inches deep, and the lid is only 0.5-inches deep, so you barely get over an inch of depth from the top to bottom.- The gasket in the lid can easily fall out, so be aware of that when opening and closing the box.- Although you can remove the foam to gain a marginal amount of increased volume (the foam is only 2mm thick), it is applied to the case with an adhesive, and you would need to remove the adhesive after removing the foam.I recommend paying close attention to the dimensions if you have something specific you intend to put in this case, because the foam takes up a substantial amount of the case’s volume and the lid doesn’t increase the usable volume by much. This is a nice dry case that would work perfectly for canoeing, kayaking, motorcycling, or any adventure sport and it is nice that it comes with a lanyard because many other manufacturers are omitting those these days.

As a scuba diver, I often go out on small boats with considerable splash and/or other divers that drip all over your gear. Soaked towels and clothing is annoying, but a soaked phone or expensive car key fob/remote can be a very expensive proposition. The case is similar to Pelican's smaller cases. It has a transparent lid and rubber cushioned liner that also serves as a sealing gasket. I tried it out with an absolutely huge Motorola Power phone in a bumper case and I still had room at one end for a remote key or fob (I tried Nissan fob, Toyota integrated key, and a Fiat switchblade keys; all fit). Closed, the case is a little under an inch thick.Waterproofing seems good for splash and rain. I put some minute rice in the tray, closed the lid, the put it under a heavy pan in the sink with several inches of water for a half hour. None of the rice showed signs of getting wet. I would not take this underwater, but it seems quite adequate for splash, rain, and accidental dunks.I think this would also do good duty as a travel humidor.I think this an excellent value at $20 (April 2023).

I'm using this box for something different that what it is designed for. I'm a fisherman and one of the baits I use is a soft plastic/rubber that is packed in liquid to retain it's softness and add scent. The packaging these baits come in are notorious for leakage of the fluid. I figured if this box is waterproof, it should also seal in liquid. So I dumped the baits and liquid in the box, snapped it shut, and stood it on all 4 sides for several minutes to see if the liquid would leak out. It did not. So this box should work for me.The box seems well made and very strong. I'm sure I could stand on it (165 lbs) and it would not crack. Steel pins for the full width hinge and for the latch. The latch is very tight and requires some effort both to latch and to release. The bottom half is foam padded, which is not removable, which would give some protection for a phone but the top half is not padded so you would still want your phone in a regular phone case. The tether handle is a stretchy strap rather than a string so that's nice as well. Value seems on par with others in this price range.
