As others have said on there the quality of the picture is great. It is bright, vivid and detailed.The price is so much cheaper than OEM.The OEM ones last a long time. I'm not sure how long these last but if they last at least a year (I use my media room daily) I'm buying another one.

I have had my VPL-VW285ES for over 4 years now (Dec 2017). The original lamp just died at 3,987 hours. Didnt seem to fade, just started turning off after 30sec. I couldnt find an original Sony OEM part, so i took a chance on this one. I check my calibration with the Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark disc about every quarter. I had just done a calibration check a couple months before the lamp died.I slapped in this lamp, and re-ran the calibration checks. Even with the custom gamma curves that I have tweaked on my projector, this lamp is indistinguishable from the original Sony -- if anything, i might even see *slightly* more definition in the whites on 10,000 cd/m^2 HDR test on this lamp. I emphasize "slightly" because the difference (if there is one) is VERY subtle/almost negligible.The only hesitation I have with this lamp is going to be its lamp life, which I wont know for (hopefully) another 4+ years. Until then, 5 stars for this.UPDATE: August 2024. So I just replaced this with another one. This one died at 2,539 hours. Rather than peter out, the bulb just shattered inside the casing. The original Sony OEM lasted for nearly 4,000 hours. I am hoping this second replacement gets closer to that.That said, the brightness, picture is bright and sharp as ever.

The replacing of the OEM lamp with this was a breeze. Follow instruction from YouTube for this model. Once plugged back it took sold for to reset but brightness instantly popped on my Sony projector. Very happy with the purchase

Ordered Oct 2022 and Dec 2024 the bulb shattered with a pop noise. Didn't have anywhere near the hours as the OEM. Decent price, but not OEM quality

This lamp cost 60% for than other third party bulbs on here and isn't as bright as the 1500 hour bulb I replace. Not a good value and not recommended.
