For an inexpensive clock, it's actually quite nice. It's quiet, easy to read, and is solid.The pendulum swings way too fast, but overall, I think it's a great value.Bought it for ambiance in a spare bedroom.

I needed a new mantle clock as my vintage brass horse clock recently broke. I was hesitant to purchase this clock at first, given a couple of the reviews mentioning how “loud†it was. There’s only a very slight ticking sound that’s unnoticeable when you have the tv on; in a silent room, you have to walk right up to the clock and stand close to it to hear the ticking. I have excellent hearing so I can assure that the ticking is not a problem. The pendulum does swing fast, as one reviewer says. This can be distracting to some people. I really like the look of the clock. I don’t think it’s made of real wood, although it has the “texture†of wood. The clock was easy to set up. Install one AA battery, hang the pendulum on the back and it starts working. It’s been keeping time accurately so far. It looks great on my mantle.
