I really should buy a 20 watt box but I decided to be cheap and use my pocket radio in the car, a little two watt to 5 watt thing and it's good enough and this battery is great. I just turned my car on and the radio turns on and off I go

Worth it to just have a UV-5R in my truck at all times without fussing with a battery, but weirdly enough it fits my TIDRADIO UV-5Rs (both of them) like a glove, but my actual branded Baofeng UV-5Rs it does not (neither of them)?It looks like the lip is just a little too tall to actually fit onto the branded Baofengs without maybe taking a Dremel to it, but I honestly have better luck out of my TIDRADIO UV-5Rs and it's six one way, half a dozen the other so I just decided to leave the TIDRADIO one hooked up in the truck for mobile.Also it seems odd that it has the copper plates at the bottom as if it were able to charge (it does not and will not) the battery, because this is a battery eliminator, so while I laughed at a few people that missed the title of eliminator, visually it looks almost identical down to the charging port on the back, guess it was cheaper to repurpose the existing battery casing intact than make a new variant without the copper contacts already there?It's super affordable, but it also feels cheap. When I was trying to get it to fit onto my branded Baofengs (again it is so weird it fits the knockoff UV-5Rs perfectly when it's branded Baofeng, but doesn't fit ACTUAL Baofengs) it felt like it was bending and creaked like, well... a hollow casing would. But the added benefit to that is that it makes the radio far lighter in weight.I've been able to broadcast and receive just fine without any loss in power as stated in some other reviews, maybe I just got a good one, or maybe they updated it to address the issue?It does get immediately warm, like five seconds after plugging it in, it was warm. My F150 turns off the lighter plugs after 15 minutes of the engine being off, but if you have an older vehicle I'd worry about leaving it plugged in 24/7/365, not so much the power draw but the back getting warm and then being on all the time... Seems like a bad idea.Overall I would recommend it. If that changes, I'll update the review!

The battery on my Baofeng uv-5ra no longer holds a charge. With this battery eliminator I can use the radio in my truck without worry that the radio will die. Works great.

This looks great, but it’s just a charging port/base, one you unplug it the radio is dead, it doesn’t hold charge. If you plan to used a handheld for a mobile radio, and plan not to move it, you can used it. But if your car turn of, and there. Is not power to the radio, then it’s no good for you.

This is an original Baofeng charger. It mates with the radio perfectly and works great. A small light turns on as soon as 12V is applied . Good deal. Highly recommend.

Great way to use the radio in a vehicle and not use up the radio battery. The cord is a bit short, so you really need to be in the vehicle to use this product. Radio performance is better if you are outside the vehicle, so there's a bit of a tradeoff. This product does reduce the voltage from 12V down to the required 7.5.
