Look at the voltage value of the display to determine whether the battery is good or bad
Test DC12V battery:
Good condition: the 12 Volt charging system test is greater than 13V, and the battery is in good condition.
Normal: the 12V charging system test is between 9V-13V, the battery status is normal.
Defective or need to be charged: the 12 Volt charging system test is less than 9V under load, and the battery status is unqualified.
Test DC6V battery:
Good condition: When the display voltage is greater than 7V, it means the battery is in good condition.
Normal: When the display voltage is between 4.6V-7V, it means the battery is normal.
Defective or need to be charged: When the display voltage is low than 4.6V, and the battery status is unqualified.
This battery load tester is to provide with reference advice, these value ranges are not absolute, should depend on the battery situation(Battery usage time and whether is full charged test, etc.) Some batteries that are not fully charged, or used for a longer period of time, will be a little low on voltage under load and it is normal. It is enough for daily use to test battery and determine good or bad battery condition.

Answer: It works. Good batteries usually have a higher open circuit voltage. Most fully charged 12v will show 13v. It's a great small test.

Nice product for the money - quick testing product for testing your batteries - highly recommend to have one in the garage for cars , golf carts , atv s etc . Even though my golf cart was charged up at 12.3 volts - under load it failed and explained why my golf cart had issues starting sporadically!!

extremely cheap made in China junk. cheap clamps, cheap insulation on clamps, small diameter cable, and very inaccurate gauge. Don't waste your money.

So this thing works. The way it works it it has a thick wire as a heating element and when you hit the load button it literally creates a high resistance heating element. So when you use it for the first time don't panic when you see smoke come pouring out of the top. It is just that wire burning off oils. I don't know if this is how they all work but it does work. Make sure you do not block the vents.

The unit works but you can tell that the materials are inferior, case and clamps are made from thin sheet metal. Could be heavy duty and built to last but obviously this is made in china and built to fail. The negative clamp material has already bent making it difficult to use with limited but normal use would pay double to have a high quality, durable unit built in the USA. Keep in mind Items from China have inferior components and materials.
