My toddler loves this train. Runs well on his wooded track. When you push the button on the top to get it to move you can choose forward or backward, both ways play sound to start off the movement. I was also impressed to see that the magnetic connectors were compatible with the wooden train car magnetic connectors. The engine is very powerful and was able to pull multiple wooded train cars in addition to the ones included in this set.PROS:- Battery operated- Can operate forward or backward- Train sounds play when you push the forward or backward buttons on the engine car- Very powerful motor that can pull more than the included cars but also wooden cars from another set (even up hills)- Will continue to move forward or backward until you push the button again on the top of the engine car/SUGGESTION:- Not really a con but rather a suggestion: Would be nice if the sound was able to play for more than a few seconds after buttons were pushed while the train was still moving

The train works well, and has a powerful motor for the size, but watch fingers! If a finger or piece of skin gets caught in the wheels while it’s on it really hurts, and can cause abrasions and torn skin. It’s already hurt 3 people in the house, and I may have to throw it away if it keeps catching peoples skin.Update: My son got his leg skin stuck in it and pinched a hole in his leg. This train is dangerous. We are throwing it away. I do not recommend it for anyone, even adults could be injured.

I ordered this train as part of a gift for my son’s birthday. The screws to the battery compartment are the shape of a triangle however, the screw driver provided is a Phillips head so you can’t even take the screws out to put batteries in to make it operate as advertised. Disappointing!
