Your cart is empty.The 1–1/2” x 1” x 1/4” Mounted Flap Wheel with shank by Black Hawk Abrasives are the ideal choice for polishing, flash removal, light grinding, deburring, scale removal, blending, and graining in small spaces, such as the inside or outside of pipes or tubes. These flapper wheels are made up of aluminum oxide abrasive flaps that are arranged in a fan pattern around the straight spindle shank of the flap wheel. This fan design allows the premium, x-weight, abrasive cloth to wear away during use, exposing new aluminum oxide abrasive grains. This action of providing a continuous supply of fresh aluminum oxide grains results in consistent grinding throughout the use of the flap wheel. Additionally, the flap design allows flexibility so that the wheel can contour around work pieces and smooth rounded or irregular shaped surface.

EDIT 8 June 2019: 5 stars- 2nd time ordering these. They work great for finish work, but they wear out very fast when removing mill scale. If you are using these to remove mill scale I would recommend going with the 40 grit first and then giving it a quick touch up with these 80 grit.31 May 2019 : 5 starsThese are great. I use these mostly on steel/stainless steel tubing to prep for welding and grind down internal welds. If you are used to flap discs for an angle grinder, these act much less aggressive... I'm using the 60 grit ones now and would like them to be more aggressive for grinding on welds. They are a good value and last long enough.

Used one of these to grain the stainless steel lockdown bar on an old pinball machine. Using a cordless drill you would have to tighten it back up into the drill fairly often but not this products fault. Great price fast shipping.

The wheels are built as described. Well made. My issue is that the individual sanding flaps are very stiff. This means you have to press the spinning wheel really hard against the wood being sanded. Otherwise, the flaps won't bend far enough to expose the gritty side of each sandpaper flap that do the sanding. And some projects are too fragile to stand up to the force needed to do the job. The flaps need to be longer and/or less of them. I cannot speak to how these works on metal.

The BHA flapper wheel did the job. It honed out the old pinion bearing to be used as a set up bearing for setting pinion depth. It can be slid on and off pinion shaft by hand when using a crush sleeve eliminator to set pinion depth.

I had a very specific use for these. I was honing out a 1.5" abs plastic pipe to make it a slip-fit over steel tubing. A pretty low-stress application for an abrasive, but they did the job.
