Use these one two different printers mounted in an SKR3EZ and Octopus Max EZ. Super simple installation and haven’t had any issues with performance at all. A great innovation in drivers that I hope continues to expand

Easy to install device, good product for use with 3D printers, however, it might be expedient to buy 2 packages to ensure you get your printer running immediately when you get the TMC communication error on boot for one of the failed parts.

First pack I received, three of the five were dead on arrival. Returned and received a new set of five and all worked great. Caveat, the Big Treeetech SKR3 EZ motherboard that I purchased with this came faulty and I had to return it too for a replacement, so, I'm not sure if the dead steppers were due to the faulty motherboard or were the steppers themselves. The above aside, these are solid steppers that are no hassle / easy to install.

I found that for the Octopus MAX EZ it is necessary to reduce the SPI bus speed to 2mhz. At the default SPI speed (4mhz) some EZ5160 Pro parts work and others don't, it is borderline. If you are having problems try this:[tmc5160 stepper_x]# connected to MOTOR1 on OctoMaxEZcs_pin: PG14spi_bus: spi4spi_speed: 2000000interpolate: truerun_current: 1.2sense_resistor: 0.075stealthchop_threshold: 0diag1_pin: ^!PF0 #connected to M1-STOP (M1 Jumper Header)driver_SGT: 1 #tune this value (-64 is most sensitive, 63 is least sensitive)

I have had some strange problems with my printer so picked these up to swap the drivers and see if it would help. They did fix one of the problems and have been running fine since. These are fully assembled and a good value. The only thing that could be an issue is the heatsinks will probably end up sitting on some of the capacitors as well as the chip. The thermal tape seems to isolate it but I don't like the heatsink touching other components. It is a bit difficult to get the sinks to position where they won't touch the other board components and even so the tape is a bit rubbery so they never stay solidly in position. I am considering using some thermal glue instead of the tape they provide with the sinks. This is not a problem specific to these however, I have seen it with many stepsticks I have used, just something to consider when applying the sinks.

I upgraded my printer to 48v recently and needed to have the driver chips that could take 48v. These were it. After replacing my 2209’s (non-ez), I noticed how much louder my steppers seemed to get. After tuning I was able to get them a bit quieter but still more noisy than my original. After searching on the web, it seems that I’m not the only one with these issues. Not sure why they are not as plug and playable as others. Even using these and going back to 24v the noise is still there. Replace back with the 2209’s and it’s as silent as can be.Support has not answered me yet but I’m hopeful we can find a solution.

I needed these for building my CoreXY Voron 2.4 400mm 3d printer build. Works as intended, which is sensational!I bought 2 sets, to drive everything I needed, love this form factor!
