Created in the tradition of Matryoshka folk art dolls from Russia, which originated at the end of the nineteenth century, our doll designs feature contemporary themes such as animal and pet groupings, sea life, painted ladies, and more.
Nesting dolls are made of wood, which is seasoned and dried. The wood is then turned in a lathe. Turning the doll shapes on a lathe and sizing them to fit into each other takes skill and years of woodworking experience. No precise measurements are made during the manufacture of a set of dolls. The woodworker has the intuition to know the specific sizes required.
The doll shapes then proceed to the painting area. Detailed decals are applied to some of the dolls when it is impossible to achieve intricate details by hand painting. Each doll in a set is then painted by hand with non-toxic acrylic paints. Finally a lacquer finish is applied to preserve and protect the dolls. Each nesting doll is unique because they are intricately hand painted as opposed to being mass-produced by machines.

My 2 toddlers love stacking and sorting. These are a great supervised activity for them and they are entertained for the longest time taking them apart and putting them back together.

Bought for kiddo 3yo and it was difficult to take apart the first time. Needed to use a wedge to take off. They are tightly connected. I would recommend sanding the inside to make it easier to use for smaller hands.

I bought this set of cat nesting dolls for my nephew. He loves my set of traditional dolls so I thought these would be great for his own house. They are a nice size and very beautifully hand painted with non-toxic paints. This is a very unique item.Upon opening the box the tabby cat (orange) was missing an ear which was easily reattached using wood glue. That was kind of a bummer and cost the purchase a star. The pieces might need to be wrapped lightly or a thin piece of flexi-foam placed between the tops to protect against bumps in transit. A few of the smaller pieces were stuck together so I followed the directions on opening and they cam right apart.All in all, for the price, this was a successful buy.

Ordered for Valentine's Day for a cat lover. Ha, inadvertently was delivered to my neighbor who coincidentally has two cats. Her little daughter thought it was for her, opened the package, and loved it, of course. I was in a pickle and offered it to her but her mommy said nope they would order their own right away! They're a fun, special little nesting dolls treat.

I bought these as a gift for a baby and when they arrived they were so cute I wanted to keep them for myself! The toy has an old-fashioned (in a good way) feel and each cat is painted so that it has it's own personality. A great toy for a young child.

My friend's daughter who is about 9 came over it was fascinated by my cat collection. She even volunteered to help me dust some. Ashley delicately played with my $200 Swarovski crystal cats I decided I get something age appropriate for her to play with as a thank you gift. She Loved These nesting cats. Her father said she played with them for an hour and a half. They're a very nice collection and they're sturdy Enough for a nine-year-old to play with. I would recommend them.

Huge disappointment. First, parts of the styrofoam in the box were stuck to the first cat’s head and I couldn’t even remove it with goo-gone. I would have kept trying, but then I discovered I was unable to open the first cat (even w/ a rubber jar opener)! It’s really too bad because my friend would have really enjoyed the gift.More quality control is needed from Bits and Pieces before products are boxed.
