Let's face it, DMC is now the most readily available floss in the USA, but it gives less-than-perfect coverage in very light shades (Blanc, B5200, Ecru, and pales like 3756 and 928), and in black. I never stitch on 14/28 count fabric if I can avoid it, preferring 16/32 count and higher, but even so, I don't feel I'm getting complete coverage in those colors. And because I seldom stitch on white fabric, it's a real thing. I purely hate being able to see fabric through the stitches, and it just seems like I can't quite avoid it with pale or black floss.Enter CXC, a blend from China. It is strong like DMC and Anchor, doesn't twist, fray, unravel or otherwise behave like inexpensive floss. In fact, it is a little thicker than DMC and Anchor and provides the coverage I've been missing in the colors I mentioned. Now I'll be honest, this is the first time I've purchased CXC on Amazon (I usually buy it from a Facebook source) and I spent more per skein than I'm used to, but still this was a bargain at $.25 per skein. The best price from the big box craft stores, when DMC is on a mega-sale, is $.34/skein, a pretty big price jump over this item if you view it in skeins per dollar. And of course, who doesn't need more black floss?One thing to note - this is real, legit CXC and the seller isn't telling the truth about it's composition. CXC is a cotton blend, not 100% cotton as the seller says. But don't let the notion of a blend put you off. It is very soft and silky in the hand, has just as much lustre as DMC/Anchor, and is just a pure joy to stitch with. CXC is also colorfast, just like the big dogs. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Large quantity of black embroidery floss. Stores around my area were all out of black. It is 6 stranded, so able to seperate and use amount of ythreads you choose. Vacuum packed, arrived on time. Would purchase again.

If you’re mid cross stitch project and run out of DMC black thread, Michaels is out of DMC black thread and you think you could just order this and it would be the same… you’d be wrong. It was not the same. Luckily no one else saw the difference but I saw a difference! It’s slightly thinner?? You can see it on the “OUP†in my photo. The letters aren’t as dark as the other letters.
