As with most everything, it seems these are of lesser quality with each passing summer season.They work well and do a great job.Extremely lightweight and easy to handle and operate.When not in use, the main shaft retracts somewhat and locks into place and the handle folds down. Very handy to store and takes up less space.Even though I only use this for light yardwork (nothing excessive), I have to replace mine each Spring as the motor tends to overheat and burn out.Just my personal experience with this item. Yours may vary.

I like the product because I was able to trim and weed whack successfully. The detailed owner's manual was extremely helpful and should be read by all owners. Black& Decker trimmer is lightweight and easy to use. The battery pack charges quickly. I've only used it twice. It is too early to comment on its long -term dependability and use.

This is a pretty good edger and trimmer. It's lighter than most trimmers and the battery life is about 30 to 40 minutes. Make sure you have it charged up just before you use it. The only issue I had with it is when I'm using for edging, It's a little hard to see the actual line where I'm edging. But I'm learning where I need to have it lined up. It's a tool, You get better as you use it.Update, after 2 1/2 years the motor burned up. they have a 3 year warranty. I talked to B&D and they said they would replace it. BUT not so fast, after waiting the 2 weeks they said it would take to deliver a replacement. it's going on 4 weeks and now, no one will answer any of my requests for what happened. They keep giving me the run-around. So I bought another trimmer (different brand) Black and Decker lost me as a customer.2nd. Update, After 5 weeks the new replacement trimmer came in the mail to me. So that's good news. (It was to be delivered within 2 weeks) anyway, So I changed the rating to 4 star. BUT, like I said above, I had to buy another trimmer because I couldn't wait that long. My grass didn't stop growing. The real problem with B/D was that there was no communications to me. I tried to talk to them, but all I got was the support group was looking into it. Now, I seen on the invoice, it said it was back ordered. but no one would tell me that. It's a shame they don't have a better system than that. It's not that hard, we all have emails or texting.

Great product. Easy for me to handle. Battery last. Durable. A little tough for me to get battery on and off but may be due the newness of the product. Satisfied.

I like everything but the amount of time my 40 V battery lasts. I have a huge area to weed eat. I have a Craftsman, too that I have to use as it has two batteries and two chargers. I was told to get more power with the 40V and it starts out great but I live on a farm and have lots of grass and weeds continually. I would like to do a great job and spray it to kill grass and weeds in fencerows. I have to get my old reliable electric one to do that job. I have had a lot of the electric ones as they are powerful but I use 200 feet of electric cords to do the job and cannot go across road with no power. I will have to order another 40V battery and hope that helps. I am 70 and it takes a lot to get me out there, but once I am out; I want to finish the job. I recommend this if you do not have much to trim. I trim around yard, ditches, fencerows in horse pastures and across the road around buildings and silos. I would like to trim around pond.

My mom actually recommended this Black and Decker weedeater. She has one, and loves it. This one does not have a lot of bells and whistles. It is pretty basic, which I actually prefer. Makes it very straightforward, and easy to use. It is lightweight, which is very convenient for an older woman with weaker arm strength. I love that it is battery operated. I have had this weedeater for over a year, and the battery still works well. To be fair, I only have to worry about weed eating my back yard, which is an average size. I live in the desert, so my front and side yard are rock landscaping, which makes it low maintenance. The battery is a little bit on the smaller side, so if you have a large front and back yard to weedeat, you probably will not be able to finish it before the battery charge runs out. It is perfect for my needs, however.

I love Black and Decker products. I have purchased at least 20 of these trimmers over the past several years. I also have the 40 V saws, chain saws, blowers and hedge trimmers. I like the convenience of not having to mix fuel, or pull start them. Just charge the batteries and get to work. With so many tool I always have a charged battery on back up. I purchased this string trimmer LST 140C on 9/26/24. It stopped working 10/26/24 . I had work to do so immediately ordered a new one and thought I would repair ( it was probably the plastic gear in the head) when I had more time. The new trimmer (LST 140C) was delivered 10/27/24. Today, 11/8/24 the new one stopped working.I have made 4 calls to Black and Decker, sat through their computer menu, been referred to another number called that number, been transferred to another number, spoke with a gentleman who requested information on how many times I had called and questioned me as if I were trying to scam them. No problem. I will buy a new string trimmer from another company. I have work to do. I hope you find this review useful and will have better luck with whatever trimmer you decide to buy.

Had an older model B&D trimmer and was amazed at how much more powerful this one is! Battery is quick to recharge so far and was a solid buy IMO

Edit: The manufacturer replaced the battery promptly and without a fuss. The trimmer is easy to use, performs as expected and the battery lasts for about 30 - 40 minutes.Just received my new string trimmer. Plugged in the battery to charge and within minutes the indicator light was flashing red. The manual says this is due to a defective battery. I'm so disappointed. I have contacted product support. Depending on the response I get I will happily change my star rating after I've had a chance to actually use the trimmer.

This is my second placed order for this value priced trimmer. The first "higher" priced 40V wacker never arrived (thankfully), but ALL was resolved eventually and very quickly via the super Amazon customer service. I purchased my very first B&D battery trimmer some 20 plus years ago. It gave me flawless and great service until just this spring, albeit the usual battery (12V &18V) replacements every few years. This new unit assembly was much easier. But as usual, current build quality lacks the robust construction of the old weeder, but the new unit is noticeably lighter. I gave it a full overnight charge and put it to work the next day. My home lot is 50x100/ft. with lots garden/fence/deck/tree/sidewalk navigation ..... it worked super using only one light-bar of power... I'm very pleased with price/service and performance of this new weed-wacker, straight outta the box.... it's a BUY !
