I started using the cheap ph and EC pens, and the worked okay, but I was having regular issues, and the calibration was very convoluted. In contrast, these BlueLab pens are awesome! The initial calibration was a breeze, and they have needed very little to no care other than keeping them clean. My only quibble is that the backlight on the pens times out a little on the quick side. Not a big issue, but it would be nice if there was a light button so the backlight could be turned back on. My advice to anyone getting into hydroponics or just in need of a ph and EC meeter, gust get BlueLab. Anything else is a waste of money, time, and ultimately frustration.

Packaging wasen't the greatest, It got shipped with some PH adjust that I ordered and the kit it comes in was thrown in a bigger box with the the bottles and had minimal packaging around it. Dont order with anything else to assure it arrives safe. So far ive had it for a month and done 50 samples maybe. Its told me to calibrate it (with a check mark display)only a few times after i got it. It was weird that i calibrated it with PH7 then PH 4 as directed, but after calibrating with PH4 it would display the checkmark again so i would have to calibrate it with PH7 to get the check mark to go away. Im happy, this is a great kit for a beginner like me. come with a small book about hydroponics in general and what PH is all about. Manuals are very informative and instructions are very clear. One thing i dont like is the lanyard for the cap on the PH meter, its kinda awkward to hold the cap and the meter while stirring your solution mix but ive kinda figured it out, using my index finger run thru the loop at the top and the cap in my palm. Manuals make it Very Clear about letting the bulb dry out , throw it out, this is a great kit. individual testers would be double this amount, i got this kit for $147. after much shopping.

We ordered this for our aquariums (we have 300). Upkeep on this item is simple, easy, and really nice to use. Everything about our purchase has been smooth, with quick shipping, and easy set-up. The calibration process is straightforward and the item is spot on with measurements. I think everyone that is into fish or aquaculture of any type should invest in these. They work, just like the should. We are very pleased to have this in our lives.

I started with ordering the grower's toolbox at the very end of January -- it was delivered February 1st and the EC pen was dead before June 1st. I figured that it wasn't too serious, since sometimes these things happen and it should have a warranty. In the meantime, I decided I'd order a new EC pen since I have to make sure to feed my plants properly -- they're very picky. The new pen arrived within days and after thoroughly cleaning and rinsing, as instructed to before calibration, I attempted to calibrate the new EC pen. No dice. Tried cleaning and rinsing again -- nothing. I contacted Amazon and got a replacement sent (props to Dash for getting me taken care of quickly and painlessly), and tried to clean and calibrate the NEW EC pen...to absolutely no avail. Still getting "Er" code on the display.So it seems that no matter what I do, bluelab products are simply not worth the effort to try and use and DEFINITELY not worth the cost. It's a shame, really, because I feel like I remember their products actually working when I first started using them 3 years ago or so. I will be looking for a new manufacturer for my plant feed analysis products and highly recommend that anyone reading this review does the same!Edit: I managed to get in touch with customer service and they were not happy to hear about my dissatisfaction. The representative went out of her way to set me up with new solutions to calibrate pH and EC. Sent express directly to me from the manufacturer instead of an Amazon warehouse, so they actually worked. She also called me to follow up a few days later and asked if the solutions worked or if they needed to send a new pen. The level of dedication totally changed my mind about bluelab.

Have used blue labs products before and have had no issue these ones came damaged and by the time that I got them out of the Box to use them the EC meter worked after some fiddling around and help from a friend (but still dosnt stabilize after clean and calibration , however the ph tester is completely inoperable and will not work at all. Typically this would not be a huge issue and I would get another similar to this order however this is a brand new product and was not cheap went with blue labs for the quality and assurance of good product good product and ended up with A Box of broken and semi functional parts with no option to return very dissatisfied will take my buisness off amazon in the future for any purchases over $100. I am stuck with broken un returnable items and order 1 time a week minimum..... not cool . BEWARE NO RETURN OR NON PRIME SELLERS ! Also I rely on these tools daily and has caused me a huge defficite spending my money and time here just to have to search and pay elsewhere. Love Blu labs but this is a rip off ! Treat your people right or don't sell om amazon.ThanksJj

Buying these separately cost about $40-60 more. I found the initial calibration to be very easy ( don’t forget to soak the PH pen in the storage solution prior to calibration!!) and accurate. These two meters will be used regularly and I have confidence in their readings. I recommend do to the price point and value. Low price, high quality, fast readings

Excellent product after first grow pH meter was not calibrating contacted blue lab talk to Blue lab associate great customer service asked for a picture of the serial number and receipt to my Amazon purchase after submitting it to an email and showing a picture of pH meter in great condition blue lab was more than happy to replace it under the 1-year warranty thank you again blue lab

Yes blue lab is expensive, why? Because of the quality and accuracy. One of the best in the market and easy to use. Blue lab is very user friendly. If you want value, quality and accuracy for your money, Blue Lab is your tea!

The best I've everbused. pH problems say goodbye. Ths kit is the be all end all for measuring potential Hydrogen. Ensure your plants are getting the proper pH ALLL day eerrry day son. Accurate as accurate can be now more yellow $20 garbage pH meter Depending on how many Tomatoes you grow what's $170? By the time you've used it for a year that's what 50cents a plant. If you don't want to spend that kind of money the buy those $20 ones evey year and get bad readings and ruin your tomatoes and your hopes and dreams. What's going to happen besides peace of mind and plants that the neighbors are jelous of. My pH game is on point I my plants are getting the exact nutrient levels they need to the point I found Seth Rogen in my Garden last night writing a movie smoking so homegrown tomatoes. Easy to use and calibrate and provides peace of mind. No nutrient burn no lock out no snicklefritz nite burned locked out mexican with tomatoes. Also comes with EC pen to make sure your PPM game is strong. After a year of counting PPM backwards from 1 million and having my plants die because it's a lot to remember and I get confused counting from 30 to 98. Plus by the time I watered my tomatoes they were already sun-dried and harvested now I just stick this one in the solution and bloom gives me numbers alreadry done and plus it give my EC which is Some thing I don't understand about conductivity electricity that means absolutely nothing to me but it matters to the Tomatoes so I check it and get it in the some so I can smoke those juicy juicy tomatoes.

Look. You know you need a pH pen. Do you really want to guess at whether it's accurate? Do you want to check the calibration every single time you use it? You will need to with the cheaper pens. This pen stays accurate for weeks on end. I have checked the calibration each time I use it and it's remarkable how stable and controlled it stays.Calibration is exceptionally easy with these pens. No screw drivers no fuss no muss.The EC pen works great as well with the same simple calibration features. Accurate and easy.Waterproof is absolutely awesome. Must have if you're dealing with reservoirs.The only downside is how quick the backlight switches off. Other than that this is a rock solid purchase and you will love it.

I have messed around with all kinds of cheapie meters for a couple years now and pulled off some decent growth;However, I got tired of sometimes calibrating 20 out of 30 days of the month, so I kicked up a notch and bought this set-up.I cannot rave enough about how much better the quality is and the accuracy is...Jesus, I'm almost not sure if any of my other meters were even close to accurate.( ...and I was doing all right with them!!! )Never looking back at the mess and money I spent on solution and crappy gear...just saying for what I spent on this kit... I am extremely satisfied !!!Thanks Seller.
