The Bolaxin Caliper Piston Spreader Tool is a practical and efficient tool for anyone working on disc brake pad installations. It makes the process of retracting the caliper piston much easier, ensuring a smoother and quicker brake pad replacement. The tool feels sturdy and well-made, offering good leverage for spreading the piston without causing damage. Its simple design makes it easy to use, and it’s compact enough to store in your toolbox. Overall, it’s a reliable tool that performs well for DIY car maintenance or professional use

The tool is quite hefty and would serve its purpose well. I was impressed by the fact that there are several different ways of threading the screw in the event that the rod breaks off or bends. There are several aspects of the tool that appear to be shoddy workmanship. Some of the nuts were marred up when put together. Also, the socket is off center from the main threaded piece of the assembly and there are visible welding cracks inside the the socket housing. I also noticed when closing the plates all the way together they are not flush with one another. There is a visible gap of at least an eighth of an inch or around 3 mm that prevents the plates from making full contact. This likely won't interfere with the function of the tool, but it is noticeable.Overall, not a bad addition to any diy-ers toolbox. You should be able to get many years of service out of a tool like this with occasional driveway brake changes. However, for a mechanic that is doing brake service on a regular basis, I would advise against this tool and look elsewhere for a more quality product.

As a woodworker and craftsman, I saw potential in this caliper piston spreader as a specialized clamp for tight woodworking applications, like expanding joints or securing pieces in hard-to-reach spots. The tool itself is built from quality materials—mainly steel—and fabricated with decent tolerances. It performs its basic function, but there’s a design flaw that hampers its effectiveness as a spreading tool. The issue lies in the shape of the screw’s base, which presses against one of the spreader’s arms or jaws. The designers opted for a cone shape rather than a step at the end of the screw threads. This cone tries to push through the hole that guides the screw shaft, creating unnecessary friction. A stepped design, or even a reduction in diameter, would allow more of the force to be directed into opening the jaws, rather than being lost to friction. While I was able to mitigate the issue somewhat with grease, a better design would significantly improve its functionality.

not a bad tool for the backyard mechanic. it works, it's made of steel, seems pretty solid. worked fine for compressing pistons on my car (2 pot) and motorcycle (4 mini pot).i don't think it'll last forever, but i expect to get a few years out of it which is more than sufficient for a $15 tool

Right out of the box the chrome is flaking and has corroded on slide bar. Chrome also coming off on crank handle. Not impressed.

I enjoy working on my Jeep and one of the things I do to stay safe is make sure that the brake pads are always in good condition and working properly. The only headache was that when I went to compress the calipers it was always a royal pane and difficult to do. I found this tool and immediately used it on my latest replacement of brake pads and loved how well it worked and how easy it made the replacement process.

A no-fuss, budget tool to help a DIY'er.Provides a spread up to 3-1/4". The spreader plates are 0.215" thick. Threading of the main shaft is about 9TPI. When the plates are fully contracted, it's too easy to crank further and push the little retaining nut off the small 1/4" thread, leaving the thread stripped -- not a big deal, just an annoyance.

Perfect tool, it's going to make opening calipers much easier. The part where you twist can fit a rachet and is also hex shaped to get wrench leverage if needed ðŸ‘
