These are real bone. The slots are cut nicely. I sanded the bottom of this nut down to fit the slot on my cheap banjo and it works great. It was easy to replace the cheap plastic nuts on my banjo with these higher quality alternatives and I’m satisfied with how they look and work. I don’t really think nut material alters sound quality but these will be more durable in the long run.

Beautiful, warm natural material carefully machined. I'm installing this nut on a 1950s Silvertone banjo and with a bit of filing the string grooves to fine tune the action, it will look and work wonderfully. Quite a bargain!

Bought a thrift store banjo, and the nut was broken. When I removed it, I noticed it was plastic. So I found this bone one that is an exact fit replacement. Notches lined up, and it pushed my strings up higher on the fret board. Didn't use the 5th string pip, so it sits in my gig bad, in the unlikely chance I may need it.

The pre-shaped bone head nut was a good fix for my Fender Rustler 5-string open back banjo. With a little sanding/filing, a good fit was made replacing the original head nut which had broke. I, also, purchased the G- nut at the same time. That will be ready to use should it become necessary in the future. The description and measurement was spot on.

Fast shipping and a great price, and the cut and shape are true, but it is very, very white, if you are replacing an aged piece, these are not for you, but still nice pieces.

Not sure if it is actual bone, but it's definitely not plastic. Easy replacement for the cheap plastic nut that came with my banjo.

Nice nut but to narrow for Ibanez 5 string banjo . I'll save it for some future projects though. Check you measurements carefully and string spacing

The peg for the 5th string was not in the package with the tuner and never arrived.
