I needed to connect my handheld to the cable mounted in my car. What I like is the length of the cable that comes with this adapter is long enough to allow the heavier cable to lay on the floor of the car so it does not apply stress to the small connector on the handheld. The only issue is mine. I should have order the one with the SO-239 connector and not the PL-259. A few minutes with a soldering iron fixed my mistake. If I had not ordered the wrong one it would have been perfect.

These antenna adapters go in my little radio backpack. I have a little bag for ham radios that has a roll up J pole in it, extra cable, a few extra batteries and AA battery pack for a baofeng. It also has cables for hooking up to a Mobilinq TNC for APRS packet radio tied in to the cell phone application. These adapters allow you to hook a handheld up to PL259 male connection cable. These adapters allow you to hook up a mag mount antenna if your in a car or a roll up J pole. Thankfully improving your distance you can hear on a better antenna. These adapter cables are great items to have in one's "Go" kit if you are involved in emergency communications. They also are great if you want to connect your radio to an installed mobile antenna when you are in your car or truck. These appear to be well-made, neatly terminated with protective shrink wrap in place. They will work with many current handheld radios (some brands may require an SMA gender changer.) See the photo for how it looks with a Tidradio. It also works with Retevis models and many other popular handhelds.
