With the “key†removed, simply spin the knob vigorously, the threads will catch and you will be able to remove it. Lost the key…? “insert a dime into the slot to unlock.†They will work as replacement knobs but the lock feature is a gimmick.

Fits the old Hardware of my Factory Volvo roof rack. In fact they spin so well that they're a little addicting as a fidget toy when I drive with my arm out the window

The locking knobs on the KAC 2 bike, bike rack we bought stripped. KAC said they do not sell replacement knobs. Tried this BougeRV M8 Locking knob and it was the right screw diameter and locks so our bikes are secure again

It's not a lock, but here's the thing. A lot of people can pick locks, and this it just a good deterrent and additional layer of security. Works great!
