The Boxtech Aquarium Fish Tank Hatchery Incubator Breeding Box is easy to use and works well for keeping fish separate. It's simple to set up, and the suction cups hold it in place nicely. It feels a little delicate because it's thin, but if you're careful, it's okay. I used it to keep my aggressive guppies apart, and it also worked great for keeping pregnant fish and their babies safe. I think it's a good choice for anyone who needs to keep their fish separate in the tank.

I ordered the medium and it's too small for my Guppy. The product itself is very good and I didn't have a problem with the lid like other reviews stated. It's just not big enough for my Molly or Guppy fish.

I wished I had got the larger one so measure to see it's big enough. Still keeping it. It's easy to use and and works for one fish.

This product is nicely made on first glance. Well designed… well thought out. There is just one major issue. The plastic they selected for the plastic injection molds FLOATS. Although the manufacture “spins†this fact as though it were intentional, it is NOT an attribute to the product. Nobody is going to take a gravid live breeder and have them “float around†in a cage that is banging against the sides of a large tank from the pumps and surface agitators, causing unnecessary stress on the animal. Nevertheless, the product comes with very effective suctions cups that secure it firmly to the side of clean glass. It only needs two but they send you three. Why three I have no idea. (When the rubber of the cups eventually becomes compromised, you’ll need two replacements, not one.) Anyway, the device has two air pocket chambers that help it remain afloat. Therefore, you have to fully submerge the product and flip it upside down to fill them with water so there is no unnecessary upward pressure on the suction cups. The problem comes into play with the isolation tray at the bottom. It TOO floats! Yes, it is just barily positively buoyant, and it has NO notches nor friction points molded into it to hold it firmly down in place. I am using it in a two-gallon birthing tank. This tank had newborns in it when I started!! I chose not to use the product’s lower isolation cage because I want additional newborns to drop right into the birthing tank. I introduced this setup with a large gravid fancy guppy. Overnight, the isolation tray at the bottom floated up allowing the mother guppy to escape into the birthing tank and decimate the batch of newborns. This is utterly infuriating. In the morning, I had to take the product out and attempt to glue the isolation tray down in place before heading to work. Of course, the plastic selected for this product is resistant to cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) so that led to the next disaster… a bunch of glue at the four corners of this damn thing that would not solidify. There is a trick when working with superglue… pressure from human skin will cause the chemical reaction to initiate. So instead of going to work in the morning and being on time, I sat in my apartment gluing my damn fingers to this project to get the glue to activate. What a freakin nightmare. This is a super cool product! I love it’s engineering… so why in the hell did they NOT figure out how to keep the damn isolation tray down in place?! I’d give this product a 5 if they made it correctly. I want to give it a 1 because this problem is so ridiculous. But I will generously give it a 3. Just know that you MUST glue the isolation tray down prior to use. I suggest a couple dabs of marine grade silicone and let it sit overnight. Superglue was not the right choice!

My betta has been having issues from the start, he had his ups and downs and now it looks like it really got to him. Leaf bed wasn't helping as he was having trouble staying upright so he would swim everywhere while at the same time struggling to stay afloat. This breeder tank is useful for what I need it for, so I'm giving it 5 stars. The size is exactly like the description, so make sure you use a ruler to roughly see the size before buying it.

Every time the box was placed inside the aquarium with a mother guppy in it, it would release from the side and she would be out with the other fish. Not satisfactory at all.

Works well enough. Tough to keep clean as the top and bottom have a lip that you can’t get under to remove algae, etc. Lid doesn’t stay on well, little finicky.

Guppies escaped through the cracks within minutes of placing in the tank, plastic was very stretched when delivered as well. Would work well once they were big enough not to get out.
