This replacement switch fixed the problem with the failing original switch. It was easy to install. The wiring diagram graphic posted on the Amazon site was useful in understanding the mechanism but not essential. For each wire from the old switch, I replaced it with the comparable wire from the new one. The lamp is so old the wire colors weren't the same, but it all worked. The video shows the correct sequence. The first click lights the first bulb, the second click lights the other two bulbs and turns off the first, the third click turns on all the bulbs, and the fourth click turns them all off. As with carpentry, it's best to measure twice and cut once in making sure the shank will fit in the lamp. At least one other purchaser commented that they found they needed a 3/8" shank. This one is about 5/8". The switch seems sturdy.

easy drop in replacement for my antique 3 bulb lamp. knob feels a little wobbly -- unsure if it will last 50+ years as the original did. Not likely to be my problem.

I used it to replace switch on a Stiefel lamp. As one reviewer said, the hole in the brass lamp base needs to be enlarged. I did not have a step drill, but I was able to enlarge the opening with a small grinding wheel in my Dremel tool. Lamp now works great.

I had a lamp that needed this switch. I ordered it and wired it. works perfectly and was easy to install. This allows a lamp with two light bulbs to have one, or the other or both on.
