lite according to instructions and the mantel fell apart ,2 giant holes on 2 sides. replacement worked fine

It is possible to buy several mantles in a row that will have massive holes in them after the initial burn in, but this has only happened to me once. I also have lamps with mantles that are in excess of a year old. Usually there are no issues with mantles, but some just don't want to cooperate. Please remember to NEVER touch the mantle web, even before installation. If it has a dent in it, leave it alone. I am writing this as a review for a return and just to clarify, this is the first mantle in nearly 2 yrs that didn't behave. The problem with this mantle in no way reflects negatively on this seller. Sometimes " Crap just Happens"

Nothing to dislike. If you are a fan of Alladan oil lamps, stock up. These things are a wonderful anachronism and are very difficult to find. Sometimes tricky to operate, they produce soft yet bright light. Mine will even take the chill out of a room.

I have had Aladdin Lamps for 25 years. I have never had issues with mantles failing and two of these failed the first night.
