Product Description

Braden Filtration replacement cartridge filter using 80/20 Cellulose Polyester Fire-Retardant (FR) blended media. A budget friendly option which provides dependable filtration performance at MERV 11 initial efficiency rating. The intended use for Cell/Poly FR Filters is for general dust, weld fumes, and plasma/laser cutting smoke when the filtered air is being exhausted outside. This cartridge filter is constructed with galvanized metal pans and Inner + Outer cages. Potted in a high durometer urethane this filter is ready for use in your pulsed filtration system.

100% mechanical filtration technology. A pulse filter must maintain filtration performance mechanically. Which means the filter media and efficiency layers must perform before and after it is mechanically cleaned. Zero use of electro-static and the stable two-dimensional nano layer ensures optimized filtration efficiency. In reality the “as new” filter will be the lowest efficiency the filter will operate at during functional life.

Nanofibers have been a popular upgrade for many varieties of filtration products for more than two decades. They exhibit certain The exhibit special properties such as an extremely high surface to weight ratio compared to the fibers of conventional non-wovens. The low density, large surface area to mass, high pore volume, and tight pore size make the nano fiber non-woven appropriate for a wide variety of filtration applications. However, nanofiber technology does differ from one supplier to another. With a wide variety of performance and durability differences not seen until after the filters are in service.

Durable Media. Spun Bond polyester media is made with rigid continuous fibers that yield up to 3-4x the strength of traditional paper media. Engineered to withstand over 100,000 cleaning pulses ranging from 70 – 95 psi. The Polyester spun bond media is designed to perform resisting abrasion and wear throughout its lifetime caused by pulse cleaning.

Surface filtration technology. To maximize long term operating performance a filter must be designed with optimized surface filtration. The combination of a polyester substrate and nanofibers incorporates the high efficiency, two-dimensional surface that ensures the dust does not penetrate the nanofiber surface. This in turn provides maximum dust release during pulsing and lowest operating pressure drop over the life of the filter. It is critical the base media remains clean and free.

Lowest Initial DP at start up < 0.70” at 1500cfm. Most traditional cellulose or synthetic F7 – F9 materials start off at greater than 0.85” of pressure drop at start up based upon the specification of the media and construction of the filter. The spun bond with nano filter will start off 20% lower and offer immediate operational energy savings.

Dust Holding Capacity – is the capacity of a filter to capture and hold dust at an acceptable resistance for a period of time. The value is typically noted in grams, taken when the airflow resistance reaches a preset maximum. DHC must be compared to the same end of test level or comparison is essentially impossible.

Dust Holding Capacity (EN779-2102) > 6.0kgs. Most experts agree that comparisons of dust holding capacity is a significant baseline of data to consider when evaluating filter performance. A spun bond with nanofiber technology has been tested to hold more than 6.0kgs or 13lbs of dust up to 4.0” of operating pressure drop. This provides reassurance the filter will operate in challenging dust loading environments.

ASHRAE 52.2-2012 MERV (minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) – is an overall rating that provides expected “minimum levels of efficiency”. Averaging of

particle efficiency is also performed in three separate ranges. E1, E2 and E3. The E1 efficiency level averages the smallest particle size range (0.3μm – 3.0μm).

Pleat Support – For an air filter to perform at its maximum capacity, the pleated media must stay open and rigid through its entire pleat depth. Conventional pleated media will rely on corrugation or grooving. Under certain environmental (wet) or very high dust loadings or high temperatures, these corrugations can collapse or flatten, leading to pressure drop rise across the inlet. The filter must be designed with a permanent and fixed mechanical separation technique that won’t collapse but stay functional allowing pressure drop to remain stable.

This filter is much cheaper than other options (e.g. Wynn). While I don't actually know that the filtering is fully comparable, I think this is a great option for a cheapskate like me. I managed to mount it my Harbor Freight Dust Collector by running self-tapping screws through a 1/2" piece of plywood directly into the metal top of the filter (it has a gasket attached which I was able to pull tight against the ply). Before attaching it I first cut a hole in the plywood with a jigsaw and pushed a 6" HVAC start collar through to make the connection through some 6" flexible vent pipe. (The plywood has a couple of brackets attached securing it to the wall with pocket screws.) Everything seems to work great, but I have to admit I have no way of actually testing the air quality.

Overall, the filter works well. I had to use a 3/8” all threaded rod and made a wing bracket to hold in place onto the dust collector. I will be manipulating the build of the dust collector to get a tighter fit on the filter. My impression is good so far.

a little smaller than expected, but made it work.

Hooked it up as part of a 2-stage dust collector system. Filter is rock solid. Bit of bodge to get it all setup, but knew that going in.
