I am really enjoying my carbonator, but I think it's important for newcomers to this appliance, like me, to know that it does not come with any canisters, and you must purchase canisters. There are many choices for this, including subscription programs. And the price of the soda stream or philips or other brand canisters varies widely. We have been using the carbonator since Christmas, and go through a canister every three weeks or so with normal use with a family of five to seven, depending on the week and weekend. This is a little bit more than others may go through, and the average is 60 liters per canister within 4-6 weeks on average. Also want to say the design is great--very sleek and modern on the kitchen counter.

Feels heavy duty with plenty of fizz. Looks like a solid piece of small appliance that belongs on the counter rather than a cheap piece of plastic that will tip over.

This Breville Carbonator makes a smart and stylish addition to any kitchen counter or bar. It has an elegant profile, a sleek silhouette, it’s beautifully made, and worthy of its Breville brand — and $200 price.However. As I just learned while researching the Breville Carbonators, for another $50 bucks, you can buy the Breville Fizz Fusion which would allow you to fizz juice, tea, cocktails, wine, or whatever. This Breville InFizz doesn’t carbonate anything but water, and not even that since it doesn’t come with a CO2 tank. I inserted a tank I that I was using with my Philips carbonator, and though it was very easy to just screw in the tank to the Breville carbonator, the Breville didn’t carbonate my water (which I chilled, as required) any better than my Philips. And the whole reason I got the Breville was that I didn’t think the Philips carbonated water very well. At all.So, I’m thinking that the could be in the brand of CO2 tank I’ve been using. So I decided to buy the Breville brand CO2 canister, on the chance that it would work better than the canister I had. Unfortunately, I realized that Amazon doesn’t sell Breville CO2 canisters. No one does. Except Breville. Because it’s a “club.†So, perhaps stupidly, I went all in and bought Breville canisters, which come in a 2-pack and cost $59. They’ll arrive soon, at which time, I’ll review again. This Breville InFizz is a beautiful machine that's beautifully-made. However, I don’t yet know if it’ll deliver on all my beverage hopes and dreams. So please stay tuned.

This machine does exactly what it’s supposed to do -- carbonates water quickly and consistently! The stainless steel design looks sleek, and it’s easy to use. I did a lot of research before ordering this, as I have a similar product by a different brand that didn't work out too well, and I heard so many positive things about Breville stuff in general, so I hoped for the best (and wasn't disappointed at all!). Just keep in mind that you’ll need to buy a separate CO2 cartridge since it doesn’t come with one. Breville sells one specifically for this unit, but you can also buy the blue version of the "big name" carbonater and it fits. If you drink a lot of sparkling water, this is a nice upgrade from store bought bottles.

I, like you, probably, was drawn in by the prospect of a metal replacement to my ~8 year old SodaStream Fizzi (or whatever they called it back then - the cheapo black plastic unit with the gray button on top that feels like a toy). Be warned: this is not a direct upgrade. I am contemplating a return.First, let's talk about the metal aspect. There's a decent bit of real metal on this, but it appears to be metal plating over a plastic core from everything I can tell. Thus, this is still an extremely light and honestly somewhat fragile feeling piece of kitchenware. You will also be able to fully tip the unit over if you aren't careful - it gets extremely top-heavy once a bottle is in there.Next, let's talk about the ergonomics of the design. In general, I quite like the lever on this (IMO it's a ton better than the Fizzi button, or than the side handle designs), and it seems to always try to send out a fixed amount of CO2 rather than just being a straight up manual opening of the valve like on the Fizzi. Not sure how this regulation mechanism works, but it seems to work well. HOWEVER, that's where my praise of this unit ends. The drip tray seals pretty well to the base, with no grip/pull slots to be able to lift it back out! I had to take a fork and pry the drip tray off the base through the drainage holes - which is where there's the least load-bearing material to resist bending over time. I haven't bent it yet, but it's bound to happen eventually.Next, let's talk about intercompatibility and playing nice with hardware not made by the same company that makes the machine - something becoming unheard of in consumer hardware these days across most industries, and especially in the kitchen. Breville gets about 1/2 credit here. The CO2 canisters are directly compatible with the screw-in (blue cap) SodaStream units you might already have, and can trivially source locally in any reasonably populated place in North America. Score Breville. Unfortunately, they totally dropped the ball on drink bottle compatibility. I foolishly figured this would use the same bottle system as my SodaStream bottles (which are all dishwasher safe) or the metal bottles I have that are "mostly" compatible (though they leak during carbonation a bit). WRONG. Breville went with a fully proprietary system here - while the cap threads are compatibly sized it appears, you aren't actually screwing the bottle threads into the carbonator. You're screwing in four plastic posts on the sides of the threads, which use their own threading system within the carbonator. This makes for a very secure connection which is nice in some ways, but it means ZERO of your existing bottles are compatible. Note that only one bottle comes with the InFizz, it is NOT dishwasher safe (despite me knowing approximately two Americans who hand-wash their dishes - come on Breville, get with the program! SodaStream learned this years ago!), and replacements are ONLY sourceable from Breville it appears. Amazon doesn't sell them, and no third-party compatible replacements appear to exist, whereas SodaStream/aarke bottles are trivially replaceable from tons of sources, made from tons of materials (various plastics, metal, glass, etc)TBD how fizzy the drink comes out - waiting for it to cool off in the fridge still. So, it's beautiful, and at least shares CO2 tanks with the rest of the world, but the entire rest of the design is very fidgety. I'm likely to return and replace with an aarke metal unit, but we'll see. I'm also lazy :) 2-stars is partly due to factoring the price into all of this. It's a steep asking price to buy into a weird, quirky, proprietary world with ergonomics concerns. At half the price, I'd probably say "oh whatever", but it's priced as a Breville product, meaning of course, $$$.

A great product from a very solid brand named company. We bought the screw top CO2 canisters (blue ones) from another company and they work great! It's interesting how the carbonation seems to make water and other drinks taste better. I really like how you just need a CO2 cartridge and you're ready to make great drinks, no cords, no LCDs, no apps, just insert the CO2 and it's that easy!!! We love brushed stainless steel that fits in with our fridge and dishwasher.

Pros:Elegant Design: The brushed stainless steel finish gives the InFizzâ„¢ Aqua a sleek and modern look that fits well in any kitchen. Its design is both stylish and durable.Effortless Operation: The sparkling water maker is easy to use, with a straightforward mechanism for carbonation. You simply fill the bottle with water, attach it to the machine, and press a button to carbonate.Customizable Carbonation Levels: The InFizzâ„¢ Aqua allows you to adjust the level of carbonation to suit your taste, from lightly fizzy to highly carbonated, providing a personalized sparkling water experience.Quick and Efficient: It carbonates water quickly, with minimal effort. This efficiency makes it a convenient choice for regular use.Quality Build: The construction is robust and feels premium. The stainless steel and overall build quality suggest a long-lasting appliance.Eco-Friendly: Using a sparkling water maker reduces the need for single-use plastic bottles, making it a more environmentally friendly option compared to buying bottled sparkling water.Cons:High Initial Cost: The InFizzâ„¢ Aqua is priced higher than many other sparkling water makers on the market. The investment may be a consideration for those on a budget.CO2 Cylinder Replacement: The CO2 cylinders need to be replaced periodically, which can add to the ongoing cost. While this is common for sparkling water makers, it's something to keep in mind.Limited Bottle Size: The machine is designed for a specific bottle size. If you prefer larger quantities of sparkling water, you may need to carbonate in multiple batches.Learning Curve: There may be a slight learning curve to get the carbonation levels just right, especially for new users. It may take a few tries to perfect your preferred level of fizziness.Noise Level: While not excessively loud, the machine does produce some noise during the carbonation process. This is not a major issue but worth noting for those who prefer a quieter appliance.Overall, the Breville InFizzâ„¢ Aqua Sparkling Water Maker is a top-quality product that delivers an elegant and efficient way to make sparkling water at home. Its stylish design, customizable carbonation levels, and robust build are key highlights. While the initial cost and ongoing maintenance might be considerations, its performance and eco-friendly benefits make it a great choice for sparkling water enthusiasts.

This is not a cheap device, but it is beautiful. There are plastic carbonation units readily available in the market that cost much less and work very similarly. I do expect this one's build quality will mean it'll last much longer, though. It's important to note that the Aqua is strictly for making sparkling water. You can, of course, add other flavours to the water by mixing in different drinks (e.g. adding some juice). If you're looking for something that will allow you to infuse flavour as part of the carbonation process, though, you're looking for the Aqua's sibling, the InFizz Fusion.Using the machine is very simple. It might take a few tries to figure it out, but it's far from rocket science. You attach the bottle, and pump the handle until you get to the level of carbonation you prefer (you get a feel for it). The included bottle holds 1L and also comes with a cleaning brush since it's not dishwasher-safe.It's a little annoying that this doesn't come with a CO2 cartridge (especially at the price point), but the good news is that it's not some custom cartridge. It's a standard CO2 cartridge, the same as used by their primary competitor that you can pick up just about anywhere. If you want a carbonation machine that actually looks nice on your counter, this may be what you're looking for. If you would like to make more in the way of flavoured sparkling waters, spend the extra $50 and upgrade to the Fusion.
