I bought a new Dell XPS computer and it has a Killer E3100G 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Controller installed and I was limited to 1000 mbps because of my ethernet switch. I searched online to find this switch and immediately I was presented with the fastest speeds available throughout my home network. Plug and play makes it an easy upgrade.

For the money, this switch is a really good deal, especially for an 8 port 2.5GbE switch. Although very spartan in appearance and quite plain, it does seem to be built reasonably well and seems to work quite nicely. In a quick point to point test on my local network using a couple of Realtek 2.5GbE NIC's it had no problems syncing up and got essentially full bandwidth in a file transfer test. The case is made of plastic but has plenty of ventilation holes and is staying totally cool to the touch (though this is with only two ports used). The only reason I am giving this a 4 star review rather than 5 is due to the very basic LED functionality of this switch, as it gives no information with regard to what speed connection has been made. The LED's have exactly three states, off, blinking green, and solid green, which isn't super informative. I personally prefer port mounted LEDs that show traffic and connection speed. At the least, I think they should have used dual color LEDs rather than just green. At least that way they could have indicated a difference between a gigabit connection and 2.5 gigabit. That being said, it still does seem to work very well and it is still a great deal for the price, but there is always room for improvement.

This product is exactly what is says it is, a quick and easy to install 2.5GB hub for high speed internet. It took me less than 10 minutes to install, which included mounting it to my wall and cleaning up the cables to make it look nice and organized.

This ethernet switch is perfect. It has 8 ports and reaches full gigabit speeds. It's small, lightweight, and silent. It is different from other switches where the led indicators are moved to the top of the switch and blink depending on data transfer. It's different but it works, it makes for a low profile and not as annoying at night. Overall this is a pretty good ethernet switch.

This BrosTrend 2.5G 8 port switch is a good one. Each port offers 1G/2.5G and the switch provides 40Gbps of switching capacity. The shell of this switch is plastic but it is vented very well and just gets warm to the touch. This switch does not have LEDs on the ports like most switches. Instead the port and power LEDs are on top of the switch. Personally I prefer LEDs on each of the individual ports. The LEDs have three states: Off, On, and activity flashing. The LEDs are green and do not signify the connection speed with different colors.At the time of this review, this BrosTrend 2.5G 8-Port Switch was selling for $59.99 and had a 20% Coupon making the total cost $47.99. This is a decent cost for an 8-port 2.5G switch. This switch does seem to be made of quality components.
