This replaced my old standard issue Dymo that my company uses. With the Dymo, I constantly had to clean it because any spec of dust seemed to cause labels to print that were unreadable. I haven't had to clean the PTE500 yet after a month of using it, and all the labels have looked perfect.I still haven't had time to learn how to use the more advanced features like printing out a series or off of a spreadsheet but it will pay for itself with the time saved next time I'm on a big job. I recently did a huge install at Arrowhead Stadium (where the Chiefs play) where I spent three 10-hour days just making labels and tags. If I had this label maker with me at the time I probably would have gotten it done in a day or less. The Dymo needs constant cleaning, manual cleaving, having to cut margins to fit on the tags, and manually typing in each label. The PTE500 can be set to a size that fits, auto cleave, and be printed in a series within set parameters. You will save your company thousands of dollars in needless labor costs over it's life span by buying one of these.

Because of company purchase policy, I've been using Dymo handheld labelmakers for 15+ years (Rhino 5200). And over 15+ years, and at least 4-5 replacements ... NOT ONE has ever printed better than a $20 printer. The print quality is ALWAYS terrible from Dymo. I finally convinced our purchasing agent to get something different and got this Brother PTE500 and, THIS is what a label maker should make!!! I don't know what else to say, the print quality is amazing. It will print a true wire WRAP (I hate flags), will accept a 3/4" tape, and will print SHRINK WRAP labels!!! This is the label maker you want. Stay away from Dymo.

This label maker has been awesome when terminating network cables and patch panels. I love the ability to make ladles for cable wraps, face plates, and patch panels.

This is probably one of my favorite purchases. It works exactly as I need it to, is user friendly, has decent battery life, and I love it! Went a little label-crazy as a part of reorganizing storage closets at work a while back and it has held up thus far.

I decided to purchase this product because of my networking company, and I was particularly drawn to the patch panel and cable wrap capabilities. The print quality has been impressive, and the software is solid. However, I do have a few reservations: the templates aren't quite to my liking, and there's a bit of a learning curve involved, which can be somewhat steep. Additionally, I've found that the documentation could be more comprehensive.

The picture of this thing doesnt do it justice. When you get this thing and open it up, It's huge!! Shockingly big. Almost too. Big, it does a lot, and I love that. You can also put multiple different sizes labeled into it all the way up to 1" inch., which is pretty big. I like that it is easy to change the cartridges from one size to the other. You still get the p-touch software that you can design labels on your computer or your phone. I like that it connects with both your computer and phone as well. Mine came with an equally large carrying case; I swear the case is as big as a briefcase. It has plenty of room inside for lots of different. size label cartridges which is nice, I would not consider my self a hardcore labeler, although I do like to label things. I still haven't recharged the battery since the first time, and that was easy 2 months ago. so II'm going to say the battery is pretty good, although I didn't do any kind of formal test; I just thought that for as much as I've used it over the last couple of months, I was expecting to have to recharge it more than that. The only cons of this label maker is that it is huge; I don't know why it is as big as it is; maybe they need all the space inside for the functions that does. However, it just seems like there are other labelers out there with as many functions as this one has, and they are much smaller and easier to handle. Secondly, it is confusing. There is a learning curve on this labeler. Now I know they have plenty of tutorials online, with instructions and classes they teach about this labor. they are not the easiest to follow and to state the obvious, it's a labler how hard should it be to get it out of the box and start labeling right away. You should not have to take classes like It should be very easy, and it's not.,You can tell it is put together very well, and it is a solid piece of machinery. It looks and feels very durable and has rubber padding on the outside; I'm assuming it will help keep it from breaking into a million pieces if it falls because it is as big and heavy as this thing is. It is sure to break if it falls from any significant level. the brother is a great name. My last labeler was a brother, and all my copiers are brothers, so I know they make a great product. I'm sure this will last forever. I am ok with this machine for what I need this works perfectly, but if you are not an avid labeler or don't label that much at all, I don't know if it would be worth it for you because there are many other labelers out there that might not do everything this one does but they come very close and are way cheaper!!

I love the many different options for printing labels. Wire flag, faceplate just to name a few are fantastic features. It's is a very intuitive layout of the buttons. I've always used the desktop version but it never had a back light feature which led me to this model which is crucial when working in the field. I didn't know how good I had it until I started using this labeler and finding out the different options it had. I can't say I don't know how I lived without it because I do know how much I missed out. This labeler is incredible.

This labeler supports the larger label sizes and is great for wire-wrapping cables--especially if you hate label "flags". I've used this for network patch panels, wire wraps of CAT6, electrical cabling, etc. Check out the shrink wrap labels--they're great too. This may be a little pricey for the average home DIYer, but it's indispensable for onsite technicians who want their work to have a professional look.

left one star off because it wastes at least 1/4"-1/2" of tape for every print. other than the wastage the unit is very good.
