This grinder is exceptional!!! I am glad I did not purchase one the OVERPRICED brands offered by other manufacturers. The two speeds are perfect, the grinder is heavy and stout, appears it will last for many years to come. BUY THIS grinder folks, you will not regret it!!!

I needed to replace my old grinder, but was frustrated with what I found. Some of the name brands have sold out and a imported junk. A certain well-known yellow brand was criticized for excessive vibration, which is something you absolutely can't have if you're sharpening with the machine. The better machines were a large jump in price. The price of Baldor, which is in a lot of machine shops, has gone stratospheric - in the thousands. For a bench grinder. Unreal. So I looked all over for something that was a little better but at a reasonable price. I'm a mechanical engineer and at one time owned a machine shop, so I had no desire to get some rickety piece of junk, but didn't want to spend a fortune, either. Used grinders abound on craigslist, but they're usually pretty beat up.I saw this one, and while it didn't have a lot of reviews, they were all 5-star. The price was good, and it is a two-speed tool which is great for sharpening without overheating the work and ruining its heat treat. The slow speed is still a little too fast for sharpening your Two Cherries chisels, but take your time and it'll be just fine. This is a nice tool. Runs smooth, heavy, and has solid hefty tool rests - not bent sheet metal. My only complaint it that the supplied grinding wheels aren't the best. That's not unusual. It still gets 5 stars.I'm sure this is an import, but it's definitely a cut above the others. If you need a good grinder and appreciate things that look like they're built to last and have the feel of good quality, give this a try. I've never heard of Buck Tool before but this is by far the best deal I ran across for my new grinder.

This Bucktool bench grinder is the finest bench grinder I have ever observed or used. When my discount grinder died at age 47 I decided to replace it with a high quality tool. I spent a lot of time reading the reviews, and chose this one. The features I most enjoy are its smooth operation, excellent balance, and adjustable speed. You need to make sure you understand how heavy this tool is. Don't try to mount it on a flimsy table or stand. It came in a very large box, so large that I could not pick it up because of its size and weight. I had to roll it like a tumbleweed off the front deck and into our house. I then had to cut the large box away, and the tool was well packed inside in the much smaller box in which it came from the factory. I took it out of that box, plugged it in for a test, and was amazed at the lack of vibration as it came up to speed. I was having an arthritis flare up at the time it arrived, so I had to wait a couple of weeks for our personal trainer to come by and pick it up from the floor and move it to my work bench. The great weight of this tool may be one reason it operates so smoothly, but I think the grinding wheels are also well manufactured to not have high spots. I believe the slow speed that is available also promotes smooth operation. I have never used the high speed up to now. I strongly recommend this bench grinder, just be sure you are ready for a tool of this weight.

The grinder appears to be well made. It was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. I especially like the tool rests. While they are not as some of the older Baldor units, they are made of cast and are very sturdy; not like some of the stamped sheet metal you find out there that flex like crazy. When I powered it up for the first time; it was smooth as silk! Well balanced with almost no vibration! I was very pleased. I mounted the grinder to a pedestal and the grinder base has a mounting hole at each corner. None of the 4 holes lined up with the cast top of my Harbor Fright pedestal, and all 4 holes had to be drilled. The only additional item I wish it had was an LED gooseneck light. If it had the light, I would have rated it 5 stars. Bucktool has a grinder with a nice light on it, so I called the company to see if I could purchase the light separately and adapt it to this dual-speed model. They said no. I went with the dual-speed as I believe at the lower speed (1725) it has more torque than most of the variable speed models out there. This grinder was a nice find and a nice surprise in a sea of junk that is out there! Very happy!

After using a low priced bench grinder for 20 years it finally quit working. I went ahead and ordered this due to multiple reviews of how smooth it runs. They were not kidding. This thing will continue to spin for 60-90 seconds after turning it off. It really is that smooth in operation. It’s unbelievably quiet, and you can easily sharpen or grind without any noise, vibration or fatigue in your hands. I should have ordered this thing many, many years ago!

This grinder checks all the boxes. This powerfull well made grinder doesn't go cheep in any place in its construction, the tool rests and brackets are all solid cast that isn't going to bend and even the washers holding the grinding wheels in place are solid cast and balanced so the stones spin true with no wobble. The dual speeds let you do regular fast grinding with high speed as well as slow things down to sharpen your knives and chisels without overheating the edge. The only thing that I upgraded was a dedicated bench mounted tool rest for the fine grit wheel that I use to sharpen my chisels and I added a magnetic mounted task light. The grinder runs smooth and much quieter than any of the other grinders that I have owned over my lifetime.

Grinder seems to be well balanced and smooth. My previous el-cheapo grinder used to 'walk' all over with the vibrations. The Bucktool version is quite happy to sit there for small jobs. I'll still bolt it down once I determine it's final position in my shop. The arbor washers are nice machined aluminum affairs, not cheap stamped steel - as are the tool rests. And the lo-hi 2 position speed is nice too. You don't need warp factor 5 for everything. So far, I am impressed with it.

I’m not going to go on about this and that. If you’re looking to buy a bench grinder, you how exactly what they do and what you want from it.I was looking for a quality variable speed bench grinder. It wasn’t as simple as you’d think it would be. There’s some obscenely priced bench grinders out there and a duel speed one would do the trick just fine.I balanced it and also threw on a wire wheel. No vibration issues. It works as you’d expect. It’s basically a decent bench grinder. I’ve zero issues with mine and glad I did the research prior to buying a bench grinder. Fingers crossed it’ll continue to do the job for many years to come.
