I like that you can extend almost 1000 feet, it works very well for that. I'm sure hardcore audiophiles will note that at 990 feet the signal is a max of 48kHz and even at 330feet the signal is a max of 192kHz.I also am unable to find any information about the DAC chip so while it has a built in DAC, I have no idea what it is.All in all it's a good product for extending out audio.

Works perfectly for what I needed. I wanted to use existing ethernet patch cabling to send audio from my TV to my patio speakers that's under a cabinet connected to a stereo and Sonos.Optical audio goes out from the TV to the Cable Matters box, through my existing CAT5e cable (about 70ft) to the other Cable Matters box and exits through L/R channels straight to my Sonos. What's great is that I only had to power one of them so it's a cleaner install on the back of the TV.

Worked perfectly over a long haul and over cat5 too! TV optical to baluns into home run to Sonos ports. No delay! Just remember to set your tv to PCM if you are outputting to RCA L/R. Bought several cable matters products and they are all great quality.

We used this at a recent convention to toss the main stage audio in a "quiet" room. Some people can not handle the loud audio. This allowed us to record with several microphones, put them in a mixer, and send it 800 feet away to the small room and then back to speakers for those to hear. There was no delay and the quality was topped out!It takes near no effort to set this up even if you don't know much about tech. So far this was a great replacement for a much larger and harder to use transport.

Nice build quality here. It's great for sending my stereo mix to different rooms of the house to listen to. As an audio engineer, it's very nice to have the flexibility to control my computer from the Quest 3 and play music in rooms with different sound systems and acoustic properties. The built in DAC ensures that the audio quality remains top notch, no matter where I am in the house. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking to take their setup the distance
